Have to think he used UK .. common theme for a very long time .. It never made sense he was actually considering leaving BYU
I agree with you on this. He was just using Pope for leverage to make BYU pay. He knew Pope would be desperate and money a big number at him. This will probably be the new norm.

Why doesn't he fit our system? His 3pt% nearly doubled yr 1 to yr 2 despite increasing shot volume. Still at 31.5% or whatever it is, but that'll improve next year. He should be good enough to keep defenses honest on the perimeter and he's got excellent court vision, not to mention some wiggle to drive.
Why will it improve next season?

Or- he felt like UK was a step up and then got here and realized after talking to Pope that it was not. What is Pope saying to these kids?
Well thank God the redshirt chimed in with the worst case scenario. Y'all really need to do a better job of trolling.

Am I the only one that’s not worried about getting guys to fit pope’s system?

His system zoom action or w/e was a gimmick anyways and isn’t going to win a championship. I was hoping he’d adapt and move away from it.

Just get the best possible players and go from there. Get shooting, rebounding, defense and play making. simple.

Hard to tell to what degree guys are using UK interest to bump their NIL offers from other schools, that certainly seemed to be happening last year. Nonetheless, it's the job of Pope and his staff to turn their possibly-fake interest into real interest, one way or another. It's a tough position to be in. You look like you're losing on all these recruitments which, maybe, you never really had a shot to win in the first place.

Meanwhile Pope's former school is getting the guys we want, UofL is loading up, and Kansas appears to be in position to sign our only possible marquee recruit, even though UK has most of the advantages you could want in that recruitment. Our players and their families are trashing and/or mocking the program on the way out. We lost Chandler, who was arguably the most likely returner at the end of the season, and seemed like he would be a legacy Pope player. We're still short one assistant coach.

Maybe I just woke up in a kind mood today but I honestly feel for Pope right now. Yes--he's paid more than enough to soak up the tears. Still, from one human to another, this has to be an incredibly frustrating time for him.

Anyway. Today would be a great day to get a commitment from Zoom Diallo.

Damn...Damn.
Basically comes down to Stokes and Diallo. Those are must signs and Pope should offer whatever number it takes to close the deal. If he misses on those two kids, with all the others he is missing out on, he is looking at a season without the Big Dance next year. If he misses those two, use the money on his buyout and pay Pearl to set the ship right

I’ll start by saying that I celebrated & supported Pope replacing Cal. But last year’s misses were concerning. Now the alarm bells are going off.
No AD is not hurting football or WBB or Volleyball . This has now become a Pope issue.
I say go out &build a team like the Carr - Butler - Brea - Almador team with guys that always dreamed of playing in RUPP. The days of OAD millionaires coming to UK are done for now.

Diallo isn't coming here. He didn't like quick the staff pivoted to Wright. And wasn't blown away on his visit.

Let’s just be honest with ourselves, Pope is kind of a weird dude. I don’t think he resonates well with players. When Kentucky has become BYU’s b***h in basketball you know something is seriously seriously wrong. And what’s wrong is the coach we got from BYU. It’s that simple. It was a bad hire and almost everyone associated with UK basketball knew it when he was hired.
