I was wondering the same. Like, is that even allowed and how much does a visit cost?
That tearing the NBA posters off of the walls was one of the dumbest things ever .
He tried too hard to get away from the Cal era . Marquis Teague, Doron Lamb, and Archie Goodwin said the vibe was completely different when they were around this past summer . Teague also said he didn’t like the vibe he got from Pope .
Deal is different for football. Football deals are mainly from reg sharing. Basketball deals are all NIL and JMI negotiates the deals.
This is just people anti recruiting against Kentucky. Same **** different day
He's turned UK into a cult summer camp.
If JMI is the problem (I personally don't believe it is, certainly not to the level it's being made out to be), why continually prioritize and bring in top dollar/brand name high school and portal recruits that you know would have the biggest problem with it, while giving the cold shoulder to the gettable next tier down guys that are coming off the board quick?
Won’t know how much this is true till the end of this recruting cycle. If he struggles again…man…i’ve never seen a UK coach struggle to get players at Kentucky for more than a cycle or two. Tubby had a few bad cycles and recovered.
Pope looking like the worst recruiter we’ve ever had. Rupp, Joe B, Sutton, Pitino, Tubby, even Billy Clyde were consistently getting high school all americans.
If you can’t get the guys everyone wants you gotta be able to identify talent that’s under the radar and i’m not sure Pope has shown he can do that either. He just has so many weaknesses as a coach. Barnhardt…oof

Possible. But I'm not buying that Pope committed a major recruiting violation and paid Stokes to come. And Mark Pope isn't in his first year of recruiting. He has recruited and retained a lot of players in his career. His first class at Kentucky was highly ranked, portal wise, and he returned most of that team, that was eligible. He brought in two 5 star freshman. But now, all of a sudden, he's too weird!? Nope. I'm not buying it. That somehow this is the first anyone's hearing about it.

Nope! A bad recruiter doesn’t all of the sudden change his stripes! Now, I understand why Freeman’s camp didn’t even want to visit. Just using Pope to get max $$$ from UCONN

Yeah, we'll have to imagine it, since it hasn't actually happened yet. I suspect some here are actually fantasizing it.
The thing is, makes no difference if this is true or totally false. If the results aren't there, then what does it matter? This is Pope's last chance and even IF he lands a so-so class, he's still going to have to get wins out of them.
But if this class is a disaster (and there's still some time), then the school has to start picking up the phone. The coaching search needs to start asap, because Pope isn't going to make the tournament with WORSE recruits than last year.
Personally, if the worst happens, I wouldn't be opposed to cutting ties now. I think this program deserves an off year to really soak in just the sort of damage that was done, and maybe focus all your efforts into rebuilding this thing, and weeding out all the crap. If that means an interim coach, 5 wins, and losing this win record to Kansas.. so be it. I'd argue we don't deserve to keep the wins record anyways..

It makes perfect sense and Fox is still here. Get these clowns out of here please. To much smoke and non sense for a lot of this to not be true. I wanted this to go really well, I hope it still does. This feels like it always has though. If it looks the same, smells the same, and acts the same. It’s probably more of the same.
