“just fans” are continuing to pay for those services ….which points to the fact that - despite all the whining about NIL and transfers - college football and basketball is more popular than ever. The networks are exploiting record viewer interest.
The breaking point for “just fans” may arrive some time in the future but probably not the near future. Everyone has their personal budget breaking point. For me, for the couple of Hawkeye games each season only available by subscription, I will plan a visit to a Hawkeye-friendly pub/bar. If they lose I will at least enjoy a couple drinks and a sandwich. If they win I’ll enjoy it even more.
Hopefully not derailing this thread, but since most of Sports discussions these days focus on money primarily (barf), I think it's appropriate.
Anyway, not that I think politicians solve anything most days (they don't), I did find it interesting in an article I saw this morning that they are looking into the NFL behemoth as it relates to moving games to all these different streaming services and how it affects consumers. Well duh, it affects consumers negatively if you have to have additional cost added to cable or whatever your current primary source is that you're already paying for NFL content even if you don't personally watch it. It's clearly a racket for the rich to get richer. Duh.
As per normal I'm not expecting much to come from it, but it would sure be nice to watch NFL mid week games on a F'ing network like it's been for the majority of our lifetime's, and to not have to research where it actually is on, and if I have the streaming service already or have to add another one

.
And IIRC, when the Big Ten Network first started, they had Multiple channels to access ( they weren't all HD but you could easily find it and watch it). That has morphed into Big Ten Plus, i.e. pay us more.
So good luck to Alvaro, we hardly knew ya kid. SMH
