I mean many people here have said the same of our coach
He's not wrong about Pope however Jasper sucks

Pope did a terrible job with this group. And Jasper stunk to high heaven. A real player can overcome bad coaching to a degree. And his uncle really should leave social media to the kids. And stop babying his nephew. Let him fight his own battles.
Another confirmation to me that Pope needs to prioritize fit.
He should of had to pay back 90% of his NIL money. UK got no benefit for letting him touch the floor this year.

there is a lot of hypocrisy in that statement. if it was your kid, get every dollar.....but then if its your NIL money you shouldnt maximize spending it?
pope has his faults. but he is 100% doing the right thing. the roster was poorly constructed. thats on him and the staff. to run it back would have been insane. i appreciate lowe giving it a few shots to come back. i appreciate JQ trying. it would be nice if we could take the time and develop a guy like jasper. but pope needs to win next year and cant risk that. having chandler/jasper at SG, having mo d/jelavic at PF, having moreno/garrison at C.....i mean we know how that ends.

Pope sucked all season, no doubt. But so did Jasper. Kid avoided coaching his whole life, easy to see. Even if Mark was working it hard, wouldn’t have helped much.
Jasper was making $1.5 million. Pope was desperate to sign a top 20 ranked HS player and approved it so he wouldn't lose a player in his backyard in Lexington to UNC or Alabama.

Pope's development was not why Jasper was -9 in 1:57 against Iowa State. He simply cannot defend. And instead of waiting his turn, he chose to leave.
It is probably best for everyone. He didn't fit Pope's system (although who knows what that system is exactly).

He is 100% right with what he said about Pope. Nobody relates to this guy. He is a weirdo. He definitely has not developed anyone from a skill perspective. We are all worse off because he is coach.

I figured Dennis would tell Derrick to be quiet. Jasper was not helping the team.
He summarized Pope as a failed leader, what most of us suspected, the guy is an absolute fstick as a coach.
Jasper played like a freshman. It doesn’t matter where he plays or who his coach is, he’s gotta get stronger. Im not going to pick a side on this. We will find out the truth soon enough.

I agree that Pope doesn't connect with current era player, but I also didn't see any signs the Jasper wanted any coaching. It always appeared that he didn't care whether we won or lost, as long as he got a few highlights for himself (and he looked beyond horrible trying to do that). His current struggles are likely a direct result of guys like his uncle.
