Absolutely nothing is concrete at this point. Been a weird year. A combination of April 1 start date and NIL Go and its compliances
Who really knows what regarding NIL Go? Are you aware of any proposed deals actually getting a response, and if so is it a simple go/no-go, or do they return a cap for a no decision? E.g., somebody submits a $100,000 proposed deal and they come back with no, $60,000 is the max we can justify?

It's still a thing. You just have to be a pretty stupid person to hit it.
Prop 48 is absolutely still a thing, but I don't think there is any enforcement at most institutions. It used to happen all the time - when prop 48 was first enacted there were 500+ D1 football and basketball players immediately deemed academically ineligible - but when was the last time you heard of a collegiate athlete being academically ineligible? I think everybody just accepts now, faculty included, that most athletes aren't there to school. And not surprisingly, this has leaked down to the high school level.

Just like players get paid, it was always a thing, but it's gotten more prevalent with NIL/transfer portal.

A J looks like an old woman as a Heavyweight. In Italian older women that look like AJ are called “Nonna”.
He is the problem and the solution is him not getting approval to continue embarrassing himself and any institution that grants him the opportunity to compete on their behalf. In the words of Nancy Regan “Just say No!”.

They accept or deny it. If it's denied you can take it to an arbitrator

Good one. We must rally to give a him new nickname. First that comes to mind is CVS Milk, but it’s too polished. HD^2 (Home Depot hot dog) is presented for your consideration. You’re pretty sure he’s a dick, you know you’ll regret it afterward, but at least he’s cheap.
Steveson called Albert "Ford Focus." We'll overthink things and not beat that.

It seems pretty clear from that statement that he was bounced, at least that is my interpretation. Thank you for your service but we are moving in a different direction next year

Please does anyone want me?

Skills = a traveling minstrel, who specializes in physical contortions rare for my size, an intense narcissistic ego, a penchant for embarrassment, erratic driving, and likely AA.

PS - AJ may be the poster child for why the NCAA needs a 5 years to play 4 role.

I am good with no more Oly redshirts just because of the example he set, not even attempting to qualify.

I'm OK with keeping the ORS with the condition that you don't get it if you don't even qualify for the trials. The limit of abusing the ORS privilege should be at what Facundo did, which was take a ORS to preserve a year of eligibility because he lost his starting lineup spot, but at least he used the year to focus on freestyle, qualify for, and wrestle at the trials. Taking an ORS to sort our your legal issues and harass your SA victim into dropping her charges is inexcusable and should never be allowed.

If you take an ORS and wrestle freestyle (or greco) and can't even qualify for the trials, your Olympic bid was unserious enough that you should have known before you started it. If you get injured in your ORS year and don't qualify for the trials for that reason, you can get the eligibility back through a medical redshirt (with proper medical documentation).

If correct, what is the likelihood of Luddington leaving? 🤣
Family living there probably helps that not happen, but I don’t know why one would give up a freshman season and a possible sophomore season. Heck, if they bring AJ in, I might even assume they’ll be looking every year for portal guys over me.

It's not going to be two seasons. For that, AJ would have to get a medical RS for the year he was injured in late January in a car wreck that he caused by driving 100 mph the wrong way up a hill on a two lane highway then was dismissed from the team after he was charged with sexual assault. That's not what the medical RS is there for, and I'm sure the NCAA wants him out of their hair as quickly as possible. In fact, there's probably a nonzero chance he's not granted the waiver for the ORS to compete this year if they can justify it somehow, even though he qualifies by every standard the NCAA has published. If there is any way the NCAA can wiggle themselves out of the AJ Ferrari sideshow for good, they will do it.

Regardless, this doesn't really take away from your basic point, though.

I guess that makes one person with that POV.

AJ will 100% get credit for the ORS that he made no real attempt to pursue. The same thing happened with Gable Steveson who also didn’t try to make make Olympic team, and even competed professionally in other sports. The NCAA is a joke.

Gable was at least qualified for trials, that should be the standard for whether you get an ORS or not.

On Flo, they said the NCAA asked USA Wrestling what criteria they should use, and followed their guidelines. AJ was an age level champ (or placer?) at some point and that qualified him. This one isn’t really on the NCAA

They’ve yet to land one of these guys but if Iowa got Crookham, Garvin, and AJ they might have the #2 team

And 6 or 7 of matches in PSU dual might be hotly contested

They have to get those three to be serious podium contenders. They won't push for 2nd regardless of who they sign this year. Also, I doubt Garvin goes to Iowa. Crookham might, but if his degree is any indicator I'd doubt it. Iowa doesn't offer anything meaningful in a graduate program for his chosen field of study. Michigan, however, does and it's a good program.
