Assuming the PSU lineup is:

125 Lilledahl
133 Ono
141 Marcus Blaze
149 SVN
157 Kasak
165 Mesenbrink
174 Henckel or Duke
184 Rocco
197 Barr
HWT Cole Mirasola

You have 1 weight (HWT) where Iowa would be favored, even with your fantasy wishcasting lineup where half of the people aren't even on the roster.
Well outa the gate you may be correct, BUTT- as the season moves forward you have EVERY chance of taking EVERY weight!!!

125 DeLUCA is a yet TWOOO be seen BUTT(thats you) He is REAL good!!!
133 OH-NO is yet TWOOO be seen and COOK-EM is REAL good!!!!
141 BALEY 100% healthy is FREAKY!!! He could beat ANYONE and your guy is moving up!
149 ZEPETA might be #1
157 BLOCK at full feed is TUFF
165 WELSH would be ranked TWOOOO
174 ARNOLD is a BRICK sheeeTTTTT house and NO one is going to want to see him across the mat!!!
184 FERRARRI healthy is #1
197 AJ back down at weight could be #1
Heavy B1G ben is #1
This is correct, but the fact that you think bringing in AJ is the way to bridge the gap because that's what PSU and/or Ok St would do just tells me you're really not capable of understanding the problem or the reason there is a gap in the first place.
I don't even know what you are trying to say???? AJ is REAL good and I believe our guy could use another year. IOWA could use a lil F*** st trick and gray shirt orange shirt med shirt him!!!!

Sooooo yea I am ALL in favor of bringing in those that can help our line up!!! 1/2 your team apparently has done much worse then AJ including, theft, drugs, drinking, sexual assault, lying, cheating......

If the first thing that Desanto did when he came to Iowa was to attack a teammate in the Soldier Salute finals then do a split to give the finger to the parents' section of the crowd, he'd have been immediately dismissed and not allowed back, too. Beth did give AJ a chance and he immediately blew it. It's smart not to let him back in the door.

Desanto took full advantage of the second chance he was given. AJ immediately blew it. There's a huge difference between the two.

Not to mention, one guy has a disability that leads to emotional issues.

The other guy is a narcissistic ******* and absolute human ****.

Samesies, though.

I would love to know your thoughts on what can be done that will help save wrestling as a whole. You obviously put your money where your mouth is which is great for our sport, but is there a path through this for these smaller schools and schools with athletic departments that care much for wrestling? Are we doomed or is hope alive?
Define "Saved".

You want College Athletics to be where?:
Pre-1960 Various levels of scholarships, then limits, some black bags
Pre-Title 9 Was it 350 wrestling programs that existed
Title 9 to say 2010 TV revenue growing, going all to schools, massive build up in facilities
2010 till Settlement last year Massive revenue growth going to schools only for use as they choose
Now with athletes participating in the Rev Stream, NIL, black bags etc

I guess I just mean will NCAA wrestling survive all of this well enough to still have a similar number of programs over the next decade? I understand that is a big question but I figure you have as much insight as anybody into the chances. Where do you see all of this heading?

These numbers are wildly FALSE.

Four sports get Rev Share. I don't have the exact number for the golden goose, but believe it to be 15 million. Do the math on BB

Wrestling is a six digit number. That's what 25 titles gets you.

There are a number of buckets to work with. Rev Share is precious as it's "non-scrutinized"

Donors have to pay for all the wrestling buckets

It isn't "false." That's how a poster said he would allocate it.

Only a handful of wrestling programs are going to get rev share at any level of significance.

This is how the poster would allocate, he/she not saying how it is currently divided up

So ISU had 1 million in revenue share for wrestling last year, and has had one of the best basketball teams in the country the last few years. Does that mean they have thrown the towel in on football if we are giving 15 million to football and the vast majority of the 6 million that’s left to men’s basketball, and have maybe mid to low six figures left for wrestling after women’s basketball probably takes more of what’s left than we do? They claim they care about wrestling, but then don’t want to share much money with it, expect everything privately funded. PSU and okyst have bigger donors than everyone, but I believe PSU gives 1.5 million in revenue share to wrestling and okyst gives around 1.3 million. Between the financial support their schools give them, their big donors and big name coaches, it will be a 2 team race forever. I guess it’s better than a 1 team monopoly.

As a university Iowa St had to use reserve funds to get the $20.5 million needed. So wrestling raised 1 million and gave it to the athletic department and they gave it back for rev share. That can be done anywhere as long as you trust that the AD will give you the $ back

Austin threated a teammate's family after their match, got suspended mutliple duals, lost penalty points for behavior (not stupid spiking headgear) and of course was banned from the 2021 team title celebration for his behavior with the media there. They overlooked a lot of things on his part. Now I'm still a fan of Austin and glad to see him doing well, but I also would like AJ to have the chance to wrestle here as well.

I dont think that could be done at Iowa. They already commit to the 20.5mm. Football is going to get 75%-- Iowa Wrestling fans raise 3mm -- who are you talking the rev share from?

Overlooked, or used the issues with a progressive discipline plan for him? Seems to me whatever plan they had for him was pretty successful. I sincerely doubt they simply overlooked.

Not exactly progressive, I mean if he didn't get the extra Covid year getting banned from the 2021 celebration would've been is final act as a Hawkeye wrestler. Not a great sign that you matured at all in those three years he had been there. He still takes losses really poorly as recently as his last Seth Gross match. He still feels like a ticking time bomb every match I watch that may not go his way. But for all his flaws he's still one of my favorite hawks and it's great to see him have success when the story could've gone a different way. And I want to see AJ (or anybody that actually wants to be at Iowa), do the same. Whether it's Montell Marion, Edwin Cooper, Gabe Arnold or whomever has been given second chances for various reasons, I like comeback stories.

Football NIL deals can be much higher than wrestling. If parties trusted each other you would reduce the rev share to football and increase it to wrestling. The wrestling payment would then not be subject to the scrutiny of Deloitte. This gets over that hurdle. Still have to find people willing to donate.

In addition to what has been said, ISU hoops has Denny Albaugh (richest person in Iowa) as their NIL/bag man to drive that program. Some believe he was their NIL source before NIL was a thing, but I'm in no position to confirm.

Not that simple at Iowa. More likely to work at non power conference D1 schools or those in dire financial straits.

Since Bob said that rev share doesn’t get scrutinized, that could be a way to launder some money?

In the Flo special on TnT, they said they were both all over him every day, correcting his transgressions, and it was exhausting. Not many big time coaches and programs would put that kind of effort into a kid. Not Manning with AJ, and not Cael with anyone. Cael just kicks you to the curb, unless you are one of his very best guys like Star, then he becomes a cover up artist until he’s done with you in college. Then even Star was sent packing.

Incorrect. Harry Stine has more money but only by 8.4 billion or so. Stine is worth 9.9, Albaugh 1.5.

She had one of the top recruits in the country as a freshman this year, and has already lost her. Even before this, fans on the woman’s board have been calling for the coach to be terminated. The money would be better spent on wrestling.

You do realize that just like this forum, there are idiots that post in the women's basketball forum?

I can respect your view and I know a lot of coaches that just do not have it in their DNA to ever give up on a kid. But the issue with AJ is that it sounds like its a package deal that Anthony is going with wherever this time...again.

That's just a lot and those two just seem like they are toxic and cant have that in a room. I just don't think its worth it. Whats the best upside to it? Iowa goes from 4th in the team race to 3rd with AJ's points? If it was neck and neck for Iowa in the team race I could maybe get behind pulling an Andrew Long type look the other way for the difference maker.

Comparing him to AJ is an insult to Austin that you can stop doing any time now.
