Pope is smart enough that I think he is probably at least slightly above average in terms of x's and o's. But that is unfortunately greatly overshadowed by his substitution patterns, roster management, inability to motivate and terrible recruiting.

I agree that they played beneath expectations here. At their next stop, I am guessing they play above what we have witnessed this season. I am not sure if they were not coachable here or, simply were not coached. Could be a combination.
I do not think that Cal or Pitino would have allowed Johnson to play as he did this season and, Garrison would have worked harder or he would have watched from the bench. At this point, I give some grace to the players and wish them well.
Really? I don’t think anyone wants him to return, the guy plays 1 out of every 5-6 games halfway decent. So he might have played 6-7 decent games this year, divided by 2 million. $333,333.33 per game when he played hard and helped. Good riddance BG.

It's wild to think further, that we didn't even get to utilize the 31st ranked transfer. Will be curious to see where the rest of these players land (if they transfer).. but in the end, this was basically a mid-major roster. No doubt about that. One prized recruit was a complete bust (JJ) and the other was actually decent for a while and then regressed.. all the other players are guys you'd find on Siena or Santa Clara.. and the ones that WERE on major programs, seemed to have been bench players or lesser options.

We had wins against really good squads. Imo that signals our talent wasn't bad at all. It was just misused and miscoached.
Worst of all we didn't correctly handle the finances on these guys. Jj and bg are two great examples. Massively overpaid. When the portal really gets going, those guys are going to slide way down the rankings from where they currently are.
If we go by what we were taught as children like “if you can’t say something nice then don’t say nothing at all,” there would be three or four posters on these boards

BG is tall and athletic and has the world by the tail but is not realizing that he has to go that extra mile to make it in the NBA. He is a waste of talent, we all have seen those players. I hope he gets it together.

I think our evaluations were ok, Pope just couldn’t close the deal on players we wanted I.e. Dent etc. Don’t know how this will change.
