April 1 Portal targets

The portal just opened Wednesday. Visits start in earnest this weekend.
They had their best finish 2 years ago. There transfers were a failure. All 3 AAs came to ISU out of HS, though the Columbus Strangler did take a hiatus at OSU.
From 1.5 points the prior to taking over, to 2 top 10s in 3 years. Something has gone right there. Has it been gangbusters? I’d say no.
I am willing to bet that none of the above moves happen and I am not even a journalist.
Get GR8 wrestlers in the room!!! Make a plan and figure it out as far as how to build your lineup!!! TnT need to be ALL IN on some of these guys!!!

I feel reasonably confident that Iowa will land one of Crookham/Knox/Fugitt in the portal. 133 is a big hole but thankfully there are some quality wrestlers in the portal at that class already.
165 is an entirely different matter. It's still early and could change pretty drastically, but right now its a big question mark. Garvin is an obvious one, but after that...its a ton of questions. It probably means looking at a guy to drop down (Schubert, Thompson, Eise, Wright) or bump up (Kilic, Henrich).
157 is equally rough. Zepeda is probably a 149 and not a 157. Kilic or Henrich could fit, but I don't think they' are podium guys.
Gun to my head at this exact moment, I would probably be pretty damned happy with something like this:
133-Crookham or Knox
149-Zepeda
157-Block bumps up
165-Wright or Eise
There's still plenty of time for guys to enter the portal...and the dynamic will absolutely shift as they enter...but we are also going to see names popping off of the board over the next 48 hours too.
That would be a dream scenario for sure. Especially if Eise could make 165 for a couple years. In my opinion that’s a top 2 team. I don’t know how realistic it is but I do love to dream.
I think Eise or Wright are probably more realistic than Garvin...although I'm not entirely sure how realistic they actually are. Thompson is one that I would love to have if I thought he could get down to 165 because he's got a lot of potential that's not been realized yet. He could be a podium guy at 165 if he could make the cut...I'm just not sure he can.
Zepeda is probably going to Michigan, but a guy can dream right?
Say goodbye to Garvin.
Be hopeful for Zepeda and Crookham.
The portal is open for a few more weeks. No sense to rush for 65 at the moment in hopes others go in.
I am confident Iowa is working overtime right now.
Hard to say goodbye to something we never had.
Zepeda must be bigger then I thought he's been telling teams hes a 49 or 57

I know Downey was walking around 177 when he was cutting to 157. So 165 made sense. I've never met nor do I know what Garvin walks around at. Assumed it was about the same but don't know for a fact.
This isn't Iowa specific it's just in general. Knowing before anything is official isn't good for anyone involved the coaches , athletes or fans. Until things are official they're just rumors and the less of those that go around the better it is. Nobody wants other teams knowing who they're going after. Some teams are better at keeping things quiet then others are

I don't know how committed to the wrestling program she is but there's always a chance his brother wants to wrestle on the same team as him.

I’m kind of shocked Angelo hasn’t said I wanna wrestle with my brother or I’m gone. I guarantee teams would take both those guys. I also couldn’t blame him if it came to that.
If it’s approved and he wants to come here you take. He goes to 197 and will be a contender against Barr.

How crazy would it be to have Gabe at 174, AF at 184, AJ at 197 and Ben full go at heavy. We add a healthy Deluca at 125, one of these portal 133lbers (I would take Fugitt) that have high AA potential, Bailey with his hands healed up at 141, Zepeda at 149, Block at 157 and 165?
