Currently, there’s 3 open ships (I believe we can work our way around Syd if needed and resources are there). I think we’ve got several things we’ve got to consider when looking at portal.

-who goes? Who remains?
-Is Reniya expected a full return and be able to go for the full year? If not, you’ve got add another ball handler.
-foreigners- is everything set in stone for their return and for their futures.
-Noelle Bofia: early enrollee; ideally we already know if she will be an immeadiate impact player from day one. She’s been here 3 months. If not, you need a 4 and a 5 in my opinion.
-Taissa was expected to be more of a guard. Is she able to transition there or is it realistic for her to? She was 0-9 from 3 and they were not pretty. I do think she grows significantly defensely.

I do expect to see 1 or 2 more transfers. I’d expect us to add:
-1/2
-athletic wing
-big

look for names of who we’ve played as they enter the portal and former finalists of HS players.

Have been thinking she would be another great fit for us. Where did we finish in her HS recruiting?
Did not finish as a finalist. This one is different as a foreigner though. Parents moved back to Hungary this year with her entire family. Zero regions in the US that favor a more likely commit.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer but last season almost all of these great ACC players travelled OOC, very few stayed in ACC.

Left ACC:
  • #1 Latson from FSU to UofSC (#2 vote recipient for All-ACC)
  • #2 Miles from ND to TCU (#3 vote recipient for All-ACC)
  • #10 Carnegie from GT to UGA (All-freshman team, 6th player of the year)
  • #11 Okananwa from dook to MD (2nd in votes for 6th player of the year)
  • #12 Morgan from GT to KY (All-ACC 2nd team)
  • #15 Koval from ND to to LSU (All-freshman team)
  • #17 Dunn from GT to USC
  • #19 Lattimore from UVA to Miss
  • #22 Saurez from Cal to TCU
Joined ACC:
  • #9 Smith from LSU to UVA
  • #13 Kyle from UofF to Miami
  • #16 Moore from Vandy to ND (3rd best player on Vandy)
  • #25 Ziegler from St Joe's to Ville (mid-major)
Nyla Harris was the highest ranked player to move from one ACC team to another; she was in the #25-35 category on this list. The point here is that the vast majority of ACC talent chased money. presumably at a level that other ACC teams could not offer.

The vast majority of ACC additions were either not full starters on P4 teams (like Aaarnisalo) or more likely they came from mid-majors.

Note that the only All-ACC players out of 25 who returned were Hidalgo (POY), Fournier (1st team), Johnson (1st team, but now in portal), Brooks (1st team). Kelly (2nd team currently injured), Tajianna Roberts (2nd team), Agara (2nd team, but now in portal). Everyone else either graduated or entered the portal.

For the ACC to gain relevancy again we need to reverse this trend.

Here is who "won" the portal last year. (LOL at SMU, they lost Robertson so this made no sense even then)

Our budget, along with most ACC schools, is not very big. If kids are chasing money they are going to end up in the Big Ten or SEC. Who can blame them?

We do have money for new players. That is where CB chose to use her extra funds.

Teams with 5+ players currently in the transfer portal: Albany (6) Ball State (6) Charleston (6) Cincinnati (5) Evansville (8) Georgetown (5) Incarnate Word (5) Iowa State (7) Lindenwood (7) Loyola Chicago (5) Miami (FL) (8) New Orleans (5) Northern Kentucky (6) Oklahoma State (9) Penn State (9) Pittsburgh (6) Purdue (6) Tarleton State (9) UAB (5) UT-Martin (8) UNC-Wilmington (6) Wichita State (5) Xavier (5)

And this is just official entries at of 10:45 AM on Day one. We know teams like Arizona, Tennessee, UVA, WF & Syracuse are joining this list. Plus some teams listed will grow in number of entries: Pitt actually has 12 players who have announced for the portal.

Well, K. Johnson is a WNBA type of talent. She is on a different level that LG. As I stated on another thread, I would not give LG more money because there are weaknesses in her game that was pointed out in an article by RL. I would give K. Johnson more money if it is there. We do not know how much money CB has to throw an a player. Case and point. I just recently found out that UNC on men's side gave K. Evans 2 million dollars in NIL money last year. BYU gave AJ. D five million in NIL money. Behind close doors we offered AJ. D five million so did Kansas. By point is, our men's team did match what BYU offered, this information was kept hush hush; therefore, we do not know how much money CB can offer a player with NIL money because they are not going to put that information out there. If I had to guess, TCU could land her with a ton of NIL money, she could go there or she could go to a program where she thinks she will have a chance to make a deep run in the ACCT next year. My question is: when CB and staff recruited K. Johnson, did we make her final cut list?

I do understand how some of your guys are feeling about the transfer portal, some of you do not like it. But, I need you to look at it from a college athlete's stand point. Some of our college athletes come from low income homes. For years, colleges have exploited the athlete and used them up for the colleges gain as far as money is concerned and the school was making money off of them using their name, image, and likeness. Case in point, Michigan used the Fab five to make a boat load of money using their name, image, and likeness and these young men could not make a dime off of it. This fact has been well documented. With that in mind, I think it is great that these young women have a chance to help their families out by making money from NIL. Baseball has been doing this for over 30 years. High school players have to opportunity to go straight to the major leagues and earn a boat load of money if they are good enough. Nobody complain about this. Women sport has always fallen behind men sports as far as respect, money, being treated fairly, etc. A few years ago, we all saw how unfairly the women were being treated in the NCAAT. ESPN did a report about this. How the women's teams in the tournament only got a little bit of gear, hotel accommodations were way last than the men. They had a small dumbbell sets that was in a conference room where as the men has a full weightlifting set, etc. This was only 5 years ago. The men have been doing this for years; therefore, I do not have a problem with a female player trying to better themselves financially, mentally, and trying to improve their chances of making it to the W. This is no different that us who are in the workforce. If another company came and offer you more money to move and be a part of their company as oppose to staying at the company that you are at and you feel you are not value as a person, treated fairly, etc. What will you do? You are probably going to leave. So what is the difference between this and the transfer portal. We as fans cannot blame an college student athlete for wanting to improve their situation. This is my two cents worth and how I see it. I think it is great for women to have the same opportunity as men in this day and generation to better their situation.
