Ding, ding, ding. Winner, winner. Chicken dinner.
But, but, but he's already been in the program 8 or 9 years. Come on.

Great post. I figure high AA this year and 2 years of a being a legitimate title threat. It would crack me up if that title threat came to fruition this year. The entire grouping of "we need a hwt portal" will as a collective be self proclaiming their earlier projections of greatness for the young man!!!!!
I'm thinking AA this year as well. Hope he can tack on a few lbs and maintain his mobility.

Believe me, I get it. My little brother still resents the beat downs I gave him when he was five years old. Sure, I was 13 years old at the time, but he needed to get tough. Unabashedly, I forged him into the man he is today.

But, it wasn't the broken leg and arms that made him better. The MIND needed to get tougher as well. The countless hours I stuck him in the dark closet when my parents went to work helped to develop his mental acquity.

Sorry for digressing down memory lane, but every once in a while we all need a little pick me upper:

I am glad my younger brother never wanted pay back for the pillow fight beat downs I put on him when we were growing up. We had these heavy stuffed pillows and I had mastered a figure eight move with a couple quick flicks of the wrists where I could smack him on the right side of the head and before he had a chance to fall I could smack him on the left side of the head in a fraction of a second. I am lucky because he could kick my a$$ now. :ROFLMAO:

For those making Cole/Ant the Champ comparisons…Cole was a redshirt freshman. Cassar only had one year as a starter, his last. Also, Cassar is significantly taller than Cole. Cole is suffering from crazy unrealistic expectations because we have eight or nine other guys who we would be disappointed in if they weren’t undefeated Hodge contenders. Wreslte stat has Cole ranked fourth and Ferrari (who I believe Cole will beat next year) first. He is fine. We could use some depth and some workout partners but Cole will be fine.

Ferrari (who I believe Cole will beat next year) first.

Yeah the guy that went 18-5 and when unable to stall, accused his opponent of PED usage only to MFF at NCAA's.

Ferrari 1st is probably the best prediction as of today. Despite all of his baggage.

The problem is, somebody has to beat him at NCAAs. We all think Cole can, but the only returning wrestler to beat Ferrari on the mat is Feldman -- and Ferrari won their last match (at B10s).

Also, Ferrari is the only returning semifinalist, and with Kueter the only 2 returning quarterfinalists. The only returnee finishing higher is Kueter due to the MFF. Ferrari went 2-0 vs Kueter in contested matches.

Now I need to go shower in bleach.

Can I be somewhere in between? I'm not sure I see Cole as a champion, but he should be an AA going forward, and if we don't have 10 champions, we don't have 10 champions, but I do definitely see room for improvement from him. The only way I would consider a portal over him is if there were a clear favorite with multiple years left whose name is not Ferrari, and that person does not exist, so I'm perfectly fine letting Cole do his thing and see where it goes.

Look for AJ to be at 197 next year he was 225 or so at the end of the season and he was going 197 weighing that in the summers before

That's a bad move for him. The entire HWT field < one Josh Barr.

Also he's a freestyle 97 kg/213 lb, so why bother cutting to 197?

Plus that's not necessarily a good move for Nebraska -- is HWT Ziola better than 197 McDanel next year? That of course assumes he stays, nobody would be surprised if he goes mercenary.

I would assume he’s outta there. AJ switching from Team Willie to Team Corby as a reward for Corby’s unflinching loyalty. I’m looking forward to the fireworks.

Ziola will be a top 5 guy. He's about 230 now and getting bigger. Coby Merrill will also be problems as a true freshman.

Perfectly reasonable take except for one thing. He'll have to keep the ego monster contained another year, not get hurt ego-lifting or just be bored if the season doesn't turn out to be an all about him coronation.

It wouldn't shock me if he's in the MMA or pro-wrestling by next March.

I wish Basch wuld list the weight class. Easy enough to find out, ut I'm just being lazy, LOL. Someone is getting a good one.

I don't disagree, as it would be helpful if you're trying to catch the info on the fly.

The Intermat link which I posted earlier in the thread lists all the wrestlers in the portal (that they've learned of) per weight class. I'll re-post it (though they've yet to update to include Provo -- he wrestled 125 this past season)

Probably academics. At least 3 of them are 4th year JRs. Stanford grad school acceptance rate is < 10% for most majors, and they notoriously do not give preference to their own undergrads.
Safe to assume they are looking at academically sound schools?

There are probably financial benefits too. With already having the Stanford degree, do the post grad at a more affordable university. Not to mention the cost of just living in the Bay Area.
