QB is NOT a Transfer Portal Priority, per KF on Dec 18. Jeremy Hecklinski appears to have passed Hank Brown on the Depth Chart.

With all due respect, that's incorrect. In 2008 against Florida International, Stanzi got 1 half and JC got the other when they were fighting for the starting spot and it wasn't settled in fall camp.
We were up 35-0 at half. A lot of starters got pulled at that point. The plan going in wasn’t give each guy a half (and Christensen got pulled for McNutt in the 4th). My point stands, KF will never say one half belongs to player A and the other goes to player B ahead of time.

I don't know what to tell you.....but KF absolutely did say they were going to give each player one half.

Not really.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said Tuesday that Jake Christensen and Ricky Stanzi, who split time during Iowa’s 46-3 win over Maine last week, will likely do the same Saturday against Florida International.

Christensen is listed atop the depth chart, meaning he’s in line for his 14th straight start. But Stanzi, a sophomore who has risen up the depth chart since the end of last season, will get a second chance to wrestle the job away from Christensen.

Here’s KF specifically NOT saying he’s going to give each player a half when asked the Tuesday prior to the 08 FIU game. It would’ve absolutely made it into the clip if he said it, it would’ve been so totally unlike him.

Jeremy was ahead of Hank at the end of last season.

During spring practices, multiple defenders have commented on how relentless Hecklinski has been at forcing the ball downfield and slinging it all over the facility.

His ability to escape the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield has also been on full display at practices, prompting the word "swagger" to be one of the words frequently thrown around.

The last 300-yard-plus passing game from an Iowa QB occurred in 2019.
