Go with the guys we’ve got. The Coaches are confident in them & seem to be looking forward to a QB competition. Allocate those funds to a different position group of need (DL &/or WR).I am hearing ColeSlaw started a new thread saying our 2 QBs are not good enough and that Iowa needs to add another QB via the transfer portal.
Thoughts?

Im cool with Helsinki being #2.
Helsinki starter in '26 and ol Hank enters portal again.
Kirk 6.0 has a Soph QB to work with. Giddyup!
I'm hopeful that we have a solid duo at QB for next season. It may be that we don't go after a portal QB because the coaches are confident we don't need to. That said, during the game today one of the announcers said that Lester had to figure out how to alter his offense to fit Grono's running ability into it. Basically, that he doesn't typically have dual threat QB's in his offense (I can't remember the exact words). I really think we are much better with a true dual threat QB and would like to make this a priority every year so this comment wasn't music to my ears. Anybody else hear these comments during the game and come away with the same take?Looks like both will be back competing for QB1

They commented that Lester hadn't run an offense with a running oriented QB. That doesn't mean he doesn't favor mobility and he has said that he considers mobility in a QB an advantage. Lester wants a QB who can throw first. So do I.I'm hopeful that we have a solid duo at QB for next season. Last I heard Ryan loves Iowa football and Iowa city and plans on staying here along with LeVar's son.it will be interesting to see if Ryan sticks with Iowa or joins his dad in East Lansing

Well this should calm all the nerves on QB next season.

yup, it's going to be interesting. Is Hecklinski the only projected starter in the B1G for next year without any experience as a starting QB?
That’s crazy. If you are team with deep pockets can afford to keep buying other qbs that other teams develop or top rated ones. For teams like Iowa or MN did last year play the kid you brought in and in developed for a year or 2 and think is ready. We brought in Gronowski cause Lester wasn’t comfortable what we had last year this coming year sounds like he is with guys he has, fingers crossed. Still insane how 17 of 18 conference teams qbs have some type of starting experience. Is Hecklinski the only projected starter in the B1G for next year without any experience as a starting QB?
It’ll be interesting to see if he’s able to avoid mistakes the way Kirk wants him to in the spring and summer. The gunslinger label he’s been given has historically been anti anti-Kirk ball.I'm not buying that it's questionable. Seems like we all know who the starter will be, if healthy.
Gunslinger and offensive skill are terms KF hates to hearIt’ll be interesting to see if he’s able to avoid mistakes the way Kirk wants him to in the spring and summer. The gunslinger label he’s been given has historically been anti anti-Kirk ball.
That’s literally never happened with KF. Might as well hope he changes our uniforms between first and second half.I'd give them both a half when we play UNI. It will be a snoozer anyway.
Ricky and Drew. Nate was a little bit, just didn't run around. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s able to avoid mistakes the way Kirk wants him to in the spring and summer. The gunslinger label he’s been given has historically been anti anti-Kirk ball.
With all due respect, that's incorrect. In 2008 against Florida International, Stanzi got 1 half and JC got the other when they were fighting for the starting spot and it wasn't settled in fall camp. That’s literally never happened with KF. Might as well hope he changes our uniforms between first and second half.
