Sorry energy drink for lunch and now im worked up ..

Give me this staff and PSU & OK st are going to be tracked down.

Metcalf
Carr
Kem
Cory Clark- I would let Spencer run HWC.

Carr recruits the national guys and ohio. help the diversity recruiting- which imo was Burroughs greatest attribute and not actual coaching. .
Kem recruits PA and national guys.
Clark- IA, IL

Or bring Yaini in somehow- would never turn that down.
Love the enthusiasm even if I don’t agree with your proposal but https://www.on3.com/boards/threads/coaching-staff-next-year.8723339/

im on team Estrada as well. He has amazing hips. If he has figured out how to finish his takedowns with his head up, he will man the spot well
I love Miggie’s toughness and fight, but he seems destined to be a guy that loses close match after close match to the top guys. His senior year at the State Tournament he lost to Laird Root , who now wrestles at North Carolina. Root went 0-2 at the NCAA tournament. He also lost to EJ Parco, who went 2-2 at NCAAs. Estrada’s floor is solid, but I think his ceiling is limited.

Spooner will come around and argue and cant prove him wrong until it happens- but I agree. Something better is in there and a Metcalf and a Carr could really help bring that offense out. I mean they dont just give 3x CA titles away that easy.

I know but its very telling in talking about something he doesn't need to.

If TnT are fine with riding off into the sunset at the end of his contract and the plan to replace him is Brent- Beth, TNT all on board. Why in the world wouldnt Brent take the Iowa head job in 3 years versus say the ISU job in 2-3 years. No brainer on max potential and where his heart and head is still at. Ive met Brent twice and huge fan of his- really great dude and I think given the reigns of the Iowa machine correctly is a win win

This an BN helping pave the way for Brent to not take a loss of income and pave the way for everything David need to come along to HWC. Like I said I will 100% shift my take on TnT leaving today and thats some major grace to help me cope lol.

Whenever it happens I’d prefer an open search to see what shakes loose. There are a lot of smart coaches out there. Intrigued by a Donny Pritzlaff or Mike Kemmerer or Jason Nolf.

No. No, he did not.

Unless Beth has changed her stance on double birds AJ I don't see it. Otherwise he would have been on the team already. Maybe Tom finally talked her into a zero tolerance situation. Which I would bet a good deal on that outcome.

I agree the Frost's at 141 & 149 make a lot of sense- if Nasir can still hold down 133 ( I think he can better than Evan) and assuming Ryder is going to put on the muscle to be a true 157 which may be dreaming. That said I am higher on Estrada then most. So I'd rather be Crookham/ Estrada combo of sorts if need be. A healthy Crookham is a machine.

But I don't think Bob being in Ames is anything more that giving numbers and details to Metcalf & Carr on what the next 3 years will look like. I have a hard time believing if Metcalf packs up that there isn't a plan to eventually become Tom's successor. I would guess after Tom fulfills his contract. I hope Tom or Brent finds a way to get Kem on staff.

Edit to say this. I want Brands gone today- but you tell me in 3 years Metcalf will become a head coach and Carr & Kem are top assistants- I will sign off on that. Carr & Kem could be very elite recruiters.

Between your coaching staff fantasy and your "Nasir to 133" fantasy...how high would you say you are on a 1-10 scale? My guess is a solid 7.

Appreciate the insight. Give me Ryder any day out of the week. Plus, with him being at 149/157 wouldn’t fit with Bachmann coming in.

Would only work with the young crop coming in if he was 157 for 2 years and have a plan to move into 165.
Definitely agree, Block is the guy. Seems like something that would work itself out weight wise though.

Plus, as Tom said in his big interview awhile back, “The way that you compete should send a message to your competition that frankly it … scares the dickens out of them,” Brands said. “To have a team reputation about being feared, you need 10 weights with depth … you need 10 weights plus the backups that convey that fear.

Part of being dominant is having momentum. Instead of the majority, we have five or six or seven guys (who attack). We need 10 weight classes plus their backups. We need to get better in that attitude. That is communicated. That is who we recruit. We know we need to get better with that.”

I take him seriously when he says that.

Which could tell you that weight cutting isn't his gassing issue. Bump him to 149 and see if he still gasses....just kidding to make a point.
Very true, it’s not always the weight cut. Some guys it helps because it forces them to be more disciplined. I don’t know on Nasir though. He looks too big for 133 based on my eye test.

Fast Twitch vs slow twitch muscle fiber can be a factor. Bailey is muscular and lean but look at his ankles, calves, quads....he's kind of wispy.

He went 2-2 losing in the blood round to Paddy Gallagher from tOSU who finished 8th. Parco looked great in his upsets over UNI’s Ryder Downey and the Nebby kid. He was wrestling up a couple weight classes and it takes a special kind of toughness to go up two weight classes and still end up on the podium…….. 😉

Why are you congratulating the NCAA? They actively fought against NIL
And in most nil will ruin college sports.

Me if it stays the way it is it will. No rules and the few that are, are not enforced or the ncaa turns a blind eye.

Whats the answer who knows, but I hope the smart coaches on capital Hill trying to figure this out come up with a good answer that saves not just wrestling but college athletics.

I just don't understand the love for Metcalf the coach. ISU has accomplished nothing since he has been there until this year. This year's team was bought and not developed.

"Smart coaches on Capitol Hill" figure this out?? That is utterly laughable. They are as incompetent as they could be. Haven't you seen the debacle with funding lately? Congress is a joke. Save college athletics?? Right... 🤣🤣
