He cut weight for the first time in his life last year he had wrestled up basically his whole life. He gave an interview and said it was a little bit of an adjustment but not terrible

Luke Sipes transferring out of UNC. Redshirted last year and apparently was injured. Luke was a multiple place winner for AAA Altoona.
I’ll be curious to see where he transfers. He’s from Altoona, but wouldn’t crack the lineup at PSU. He might want to transfer closer to home, maybe Pitt, WVU, Clarion, etc.
His younger brother Colt is going to be a freshman next year at Altoona and should be one to watch at AAA. He was a 2x PJW JH finalist, 1x champ. Used to train at M2

Portals fairly boring and weak this year. Best guy is an incredibly injury prone Crookham. Not many other guys who will actually have much of an impact on the trophy race. Basically one potential high AA, a half a dozens mid to low AA caliber guys then a bunch who would do well to go 2-2 at nationals. This is why you don't try and fill 40-50% of your roster in the portal. Cough, Iowa, cough cough.

Believe me, I get it. My little brother still resents the beat downs I gave him when he was five years old. Sure, I was 13 years old at the time, but he needed to get tough. Unabashedly, I forged him into the man he is today.
But, it wasn't the broken leg and arms that made him better. The MIND needed to get tougher as well. The countless hours I stuck him in the dark closet when my parents went to work helped to develop his mental acquity.
Sorry for digressing down memory lane, but every once in a while we all need a little pick me upper:

Agree. Thankfully, most of the Covid era guys have finally cycled out and moved on to the real world.
Good point. The portal is quite a lot shorter this year as well and I wonder how many truly high level guys would want to be transferring a week or two before the US Open and start of freestyle season. I'm sure a few more solid AA guys will enter though.

For those making Cole/Ant the Champ comparisons…Cole was a redshirt freshman. Cassar only had one year as a starter, his last. Also, Cassar is significantly taller than Cole. Cole is suffering from crazy unrealistic expectations because we have eight or nine other guys who we would be disappointed in if they weren’t undefeated Hodge contenders. Wreslte stat has Cole ranked fourth and Ferrari (who I believe Cole will beat next year) first. He is fine. We could use some depth and some workout partners but Cole will be fine.

Great post. I figure high AA this year and 2 years of a being a legitimate title threat. It would crack me up if that title threat came to fruition this year. The entire grouping of "we need a hwt portal" will as a collective be self proclaiming their earlier projections of greatness for the young man!!!!!
