This year they are 0-0.Mets were something like 0-80 last year trailing after 8 innings.
Wouldn't that be 1-0 now. They trailed 1-0 in the 10th and 2-1 in the 11th.This year they are 0-0.
Who would you have pitched? It’s maddening that we treat game 3 of the season as a give up with our worst pitcher walking everyone and giving up 2. I’m sure when we’re trailing the Phillies by one game with one to play we’d have wished we handled things differently.
Worst pitcher shouldn’t be in high leverage spots
Not saying the decision was right or wrong, but with no outs, it made better sense to hold Lindor at 3rd. You close the gap to one run with men on second and third. I'll take my chances, the Mets could push across another run.Needed to hold Lindor.
Did not see the last few innings. A couple of questions for those who did.
1) Was Williams unavailable? If he was available, then IMO he must pitch the 10th. It used to be that conventional wisdom was that in a tie game at home, you use your closer in the top of the ninth. I would argue that with the free runner rule, you should save him for the top of the tenth.
I know that using him today means he probably isn't available the next two days. I don't care. We may not need our closer for the next two days. We needed him today.
2) Was the Lindor send as bad as I am reading it to be?
I like that he owns it.In Game 3, about 1.8% into the season. Bo Bichette has heard his first boos.
"We" are starting to wonder. Concerned about Polanco. Semien looks washed up. Robert Jr. looks like comeback player of the year. The lineup that looked long and deep is getting scary. Bald faced lie. Complete crap in the field. "If" Bichette and Polanco start hitting. We got to start with Pittsburg and as much as opening day made everyone take a sigh of relief and say "Maybe, Streans knows what he is doing" we are now starting to wonder - While I do believe that Bichette will end up with the back of his baseball card type season- the "run prevention" is proven to be a complete fabrication by Stearns. As is the Polanco move- I am more concerned with his bat that I am with Bo but like Bo- "run prevention" is BS.
Semien- looks washed up at the plate. Not sure if his glove can make up for it.
But, at least Robert Jr. looks like comeback player of the year.
The lineup that looked long and deep after opening day, is getting scary. Run Prevention was a bold face lie. If Bo and Polanco start hitting to make up for their complete crap play in the field, then it may look better.
Since you mentioned Pete. 11 ABs, 4 strikeouts and 0 HR's so far for Baltimore. "We" should no longer wonder if it was good to let him go."We" are starting to wonder. Concerned about Polanco. And we're three games in.
We can expect this to be on rePete all year long.
.245, 40 HR's, 110 RBI's sad to see him go. Since he played everyday, let's see how the combined players stats add up when all is said and done.Since you mentioned Pete. 11 ABs, 4 strikeouts and 0 HR's so far for Baltimore. "We" should no longer wonder if it was good to let him go.![]()
I never mentioned Pete...he is gone so the focus is on Stearn's team- and I hope they do turn it around."We" are starting to wonder. Concerned about Polanco. Semien looks washed up. His 3/11 is better than Polanco- and I am sure his defense has been much better that Polanco at 1BSince you mentioned Pete. 11 ABs, 4 strikeouts and 0 HR's so far for Baltimore. "We" should no longer wonder if it was good to let him go.![]()
Everyone should be sad to see him go- as signing him wouldn't mean that Stearns couldnt have done his trades- it was to save money and I really think it was because he wasn't Stearn's guy. If Lindor or Soto werent tied up for so long- I am sure we would have seen them gone too..245, 40 HR's, 110 RBI's sad to see him go. Since he played everyday, let's see how the combined players stats add up when all is said and done.
Alonso's numbers last year were solid..245, 40 HR's, 110 RBI's sad to see him go. Since he played everyday, let's see how the combined players stats add up when all is said and done.
There are news reports today that the Mets are considering resigning from the 2026 season.. . . The big point is that even if Polanco and Bo hit to their baseball card stats- their defense has been worse than worse. Semien is not looking good at all. Let's just hope that by end of season- it works out.
So, you are saying that fans of the team just shouldn't discuss the team until the season is over? BTW- I still always say that I hope it does work out. There are news reports today that the Mets are considering resigning from the 2026 season.
Wait, we've never heard this before dozens of times. Now I get it. If Stearns had only not been hired, the Mets would have the rePETE-ED WINs that they had last season. Oh well. So, you are saying that fans of the team just shouldn't discuss the team until the season is over? BTW- I still always say that I hope it does work out.
My final take on the team right before the regular season is that I don't mind trading Nimmo/McNeil/Acuna...I like having Bochette on the team.
But- none of those really had anything to do with Alonso/Diaz.
And if they didn't want to spend $31 mil on a poor fielding 1B that is good for 110 or so RBI then why is it ok to spend $42 mil on a poor fielding infielder because he will give you 90-95 rbi?
And my biggest issue with Stearn's -he is just a very condescending, smartest guy in the room type of guy.
Also- keep in mind- he did more with less in Milwaukee, made the playoffs but...guess what he never do there?
But, I also said that I hope to be proven wrong. Because I am a fan.
not really- pete is gone. i spoke of the current team and willis is the one who tries to stop everything by doing that.Ohhh Lord we are back to the Pete debates!
What did Stearns do to you?So, you are saying that fans of the team just shouldn't discuss the team until the season is over? BTW- I still always say that I hope it does work out.
