So let's go by some source materials (All NIL numbers are speculation without actual ledgers and tax documentation).
Cooper Flagg reportedly earned a staggering amount of money at Duke. Who could be next in line? Here are the 10 most valuable men's college basketball players, per On3.
www.foxsports.com
Dybantsa (4.1 million) is widely reported as the highest NIL deal
In a distant second place is Toppin at $2.8 million.
- There is no way Oweh, Lowe, or Aberdeen were paid $3 million (the discussion of potential worth no NIL deals is another issue).
Yaxel in 3rd at $2.3 million (But he said UK offered $7-$9 million right?)
Boggie in 4th at $2.1
Dent in 5th at $2 million (but I was told here on rafters we offered him $3 million and we paid J Lowe $3 million).
Finally our first Wildcat in 6th at $1.9 Million. So if our HIGHEST paid NIL player was $1.9 million and as you will see below, nobody else on UK is on the list above $1.7 million, the absolute MOST we could have spent is $25.5 (that's paying every single player on the roster $1.69 million and JQ $1.9 million including a walk on in NIL monies).
Again, without ledgers you can't get exact numbers. But we can explore rumors and some insiders knowledge of ball park numbers to get closer to a real number.
JQ - Going by above number reported by Fox - $1.9
Jasper - Multiple rumors saying he got in the neighborhood $1.1 million and a Tesla so let's be generous and go $1.2
Garrison - Been rumored he signed a 2 year $1.5 million deal last year, some say 2 year $3 mil, so split the difference (2.25 over 2 years) - $1.125
Noah - Heard several times it doubled from last year (From $250k to $500k) and he has outside JMI deals - $500k
Potter - Assume at best he got $250k but for sake of big numbers lets say $500k
Hawthorne - Assume at best he got $250k but for sake of big numbers lets say $500k
Jelavic - Haven't seen anywhere that he got even close a million so lets give him high end $750k
Williams - Haven't seen anywhere that his deal was close to a million either so high end $750k
Chandler - No indication he got a raise and was probably well under a million last year but lets be generous here - $1 million
Tow - No NIL deal, just happy to be there - $0k
Horn - No NIL deal, just happy to be there - $0k
Mo D - Rumors and speculations put Mo D around $1 million so let's be generous at $1.25
Moreno - Reports were he made significantly less NIL than several others on the team as he wasn't expected to play much year 1 but let's be generous here too and go $750k
Aberdeen - You can bet he didn't get $3 or even $2 million, so more likely in the $1.25 to $1.5 million range. We'll assume the next 3 average out to $1.5 each with some making more and some making less.
Oweh - See above, probably on the higher end of $1.5 million but less than $1.7
Lowe - See above, probably on the higher end of $1.5 million but less than $1.7
That's 16 players including the two walk ons and being fair about the money paid to them in real world numbers.
That comes out to $14.725 million (which I still think is on the high end of what we ACTUALLY paid) and sits firmly within that $13-$15 million I think we actually spent, not counting the two year deals we have been told multiple times do exist on this roster.
But it is what it is at the end of the day. We overspent on guys that didn't pan out and had a subpar season.
