Just to be clear of PJ'S intent. Without the exact quote what he said very specifically about Younger is;
Look at him, all covered in acne and stuff. When we were the same size at 197 and I beat him his skin was all clear. Now that he is all muscle and twice as large as me, his skin is all covered in acne.

But, yeah. Sure he wasn't talking shiit on Younger.
AJ simply put is a liar
What an *******. Yeah, it was another ex-197 that he decided to bring up at that moment.

Yeah, I agree he is a liar. But in all honesty, that it absolutely the best thing you can say about that guy. You are being gracious.

Anecdotally, I don't really know any "high level" wrestlers who are first generation. Wrestling still is a bit of a fringe sport at the youth level and it's still often hard to even find out how to get involved. Unlike I've seen in baseball, soccer, etc. I don't know any families who are traveling a bunch for youth wrestling tournaments who are new to the sport. Also, while there are certainly those guys who are just elite athletes who first try wrestling in high school, the overwhelming majority of collegiate wrestlers have a room full of medals from youth tournaments. YMMV.
From the PSU family - Nick, Joe, and Matt Lee. This came up in their profile on B1G network.

Gotta love the cro-magnons in the replies, calling an Iowa national champ a snowflake and the like.
Haven't some here been hard on your 5 time champ Carter? Jaybo has been hating on Iowa for years this isn't new

No need to be sorry. I know you can't resist white knighting every critical of Iowa post you can.
And some can't resist to bash Iowa about things that are also done here. Not a big deal just pointing out the hypocrisy

A behind-the-scenes video of the NCAA tournament by Dylan Fishback and his wife. It turns out he was wrestling with a rib injury he sustained at the B1G tournament. So many of the wrestlers were probably wrestling with injuries, but us fans only know about the ones with obvious injuries. As a fan of wrestling, I have nothing but respect for the student athletes. It is easy to focus on the top wrestlers, but all 330 of them are winners just for making the tournament. It is hard enough to be a D1 wrestler, but to put in all the hard work, be a relatively unknown wrestler from a lower profile program, and then go 0-2 is a hard road to travel. Congratulations to all the 330 wrestlers. Your NCAA Championships experience is something that can never be taken from you.

My nephew was a first generation wrestler. He made it to PA States (2nd District 11 and Regionals) his junior year. He ended it up with 98 victories in about 3 seasons. He lost his first semester his freshman year when he transferred from Pius to Bangor. He then lost his late December and January Senior year for a discipline issue. Bangor got mad that he was working out with Blair Academy in addition to going to Bangor practice. In addition, he got himself in a little trouble. He probably would have had 120 victories in his career. He was first generation but his parents were very supportive of him and did travel to tournaments when possible . During his youth he beat Quinten Wright and Ed Ruth. 🤔

The hand he was dealt … 😕

"The playing field is now level"-guy whose name is on the wall of the wrestling room with no windows

Since that great proclamation by you, PSU has won 5 team championships and Iowa has now been passed up by Oklahoma State with a 2nd year head coach in David Taylor (who many on this site said wouldn't be an improvement over Brands).

But hey, at least Brands can tell Beth he overperformed relative to how people expected him to (as if that's saying anything about a 4th place finish).

Those were some lean times. Doc was a great athlete from Governor Mifflin, same school as Jan Johnson and Nick Singleton. He's been an assistant coach for football and wrestling at Mifflin for a long time and finally took over as the head wrestling coach this year. Think his brothers are both in the Ursinus football hall of fame.
I am old enough to remember Mick having the three boys waddling behind him headed into the Shillington Pool. Great family. Same with the Johnson’s.

Brock is a class act! The only Husker I cheer for.

Hardy is awesome!
My wife actually went to junior high and high school in Brigham City - I refer to it as a "township", being from Los Angeles, it's a tiny backwoods village to me. One of those places where everybody knows everybody. She's a bit too old to have known Brock, but was friends with one his cousins (Caleb?) and has wonderful things to say about the entire extended family.
