What are the odds Penn State wrestling will have a match at Beaver Stadium this fall? I sat next to someone in Cleveland who knows a lot more about wrestling than me, and he thinks it is a real possibility.

I would put the chances at maybe 5%. Can’t do it in the fall because it would ruin the field during football season. It’s too cold after football season.

How much damage would it cause? How about wrestling on a Sunday before a bye week or a road game the following Saturday? In other words, give the field crew two weeks before the next home football game.

Ruin the field, really???

Ahh, have you ever seen a Superbowl halftime show? You put the mats on a temporary stage, and the field is back to normal hours after the event?

Unpredictable weather conditions in November for sure, and unlikely Cael wants a headliner opponent that early in the season.

I also doubt it happens as well, but the field is a complete non issue.i

Just like with hockey, there will not be a good seat in the house if they wrestle at Beaver Stadium. All seats are too far away for a hockey game. Imagine how little a mat would look on the field.

I’m pretty sure folks are pushing for a Penn State vs Okie State match which is also pretty much the only way to draw a crowd big enough to justify using Beaver Stadium. However, I don’t think Cael will be doing much of anything to help David out. Not saying he would do anything to hurt David but I don’t think there’s that close relationship that a lot of people assume.

Since the Beav’s upper decks are in the ends rather than the sides, reasonable viewing could be had for a half full stadium if they put the mat in or near the end zone and sold tickets for that end
