I'm not happy with things, but Cal wasn't trying hard enough or getting the results here at the end, either. 2021 was bad enough (historically bad, only forgiven because of past winning) but then he kept failing in tournament games.
The fact he is winning some at Arkansas on some kind of personal vindication tour only makes him look worse, to me.
This isn't about Cal. This is about finding the right coach for our future. That wasn't Cal, and it isn't Pope.

Nah, the much more embarrassing comment was the Iowa State player essentially saying they knew this team was quitters and would shut down and give in if pressured enough and that’s exactly what happened.
Getting rid of Cal was absolutely the correct decision, the follow-up however, looks like a botch.

If you break up with a compulsive liar and start dating someone who cheats, it doesn't mean you should have stayed with the liar. We absolutely should have moved on from Cal. Pope was just a poor replacement.
Getting rid of Cal at the time we did was 100% the right call....and I would not want him back. The mistake was in the replacement we hired
