I thought they had to go to the back for concussion protocol, as well. Though, in that situation, doing it on the mat surely makes sense.

No, they don't have to go out of the arena.

From the rule book:

Section 2. Concussion Evaluation Timeouts

Art. 3.
In cases of uncertainty, the medical personnel shall be granted the ability to remove the wrestler from the competition area to perform the concussion evaluation.

Also, on the question of injury vs concussion, from the same section:

Art. 6.
An injury timeout that is converted to a concussion evaluation timeout shall be handled only as a concussion evaluation timeout and the injured wrestler shall not be charged with an injury timeout.

Only a ref or medical personnel can request the concussion evaluation, and it can be done immediately or after injury time is started.

Dude is a phenomenal wrestler. There's no doubting that. I just see a repeated tendency since his freshman year, he loses any and all composure in moments of adversity. He lost it in the carr match. He lost it in the burroughs match. He somehow lost it there when he won in a shut out 6 to 0.

Personally I even think he should still be in the hodge conversation despite failing to bonus a wrestler they literally brought a stretcher out for.
"He lost it"? Is your eyes ok? I think there is giant log in your eyes.

So with the messed up seeding they did on Ferrari looks like Sinclair is the one who pays the price. Tall order and if he does win most likely gets Mcinelly . Not sure anyone has it tougher

184 QF - #1 Rocco Welsh vs.#8 Silas Allred (NEB)

Period 1:
Here we go. Circling, tying up & hand fighting. Allred gets poked in the eye off the whistle & we're stopped. Back to action. Rocco presses forward taking Allred to the edge. Heavy collar ties & pushing. They're down on their knees on the edge. Stalemate & restart. Rocco reaches, but no luck. Allred shoots & gets a leg. Rocco sprawls back hard & gets an ankle. Rocco works to rear standing on the edge. He drops to a leg & elevates it. He reaches for the other leg, but can't get it. Stalemate & restart. Rocco presses forward. Collar ties & hand fighting with some snaps. La Reyna makes some great guacamole! More tying up & hand fighting. It's really good with blue corn chips. Nice to have matches you can snack during! More tying up & pushing to end the period. 0-0

Period 2:
Rocco takes down. Caution on Rocco. He pops to his feet & gets the escape, 1-0. Circling & tying up. Rocco drops to a leg, then stands with it. He throws Allred to the mat & finishes the TD, 4-0. Allred tries to sit out, then works to his feet, but Rocco takes him out of bounds, restart. Allred is still down. He sits out, then works to his feet & Rocco pushes him away, 4-1. Rocco presses forward & shoots, but Allred blocks him off. Rocco takes Allred to the edge. Rocco picks an ankle & finishes another TD on the edge, 7-1. Out of bounds & restart. Allred is still down. He pops to his feet, but Rocco lifts him off the mat until time expires. 7-1 Rocco, +44-sec RT

Period 3:
Allred takes down. He works to his feet, but something happened & he's down on the mat in pain. The trainer is looking at his right ankle or lower leg area. By the look on Allred's face this doesn't look good. It's over. The trainers help Allred off the mat. He is only putting pressure on his left leg. Hopefully, he recovers quickly.

Rocco Welsh OVER Silas Allred (Injury Default)

You know, I've thought about it some (not the frogger suggestion, but my messenbrink hodge comments) and I have to change my stance slightly. The lack of heart displayed at the end of that match should at least cost Mitchell that category in Hodge criteria. It is now Barr's to lose imo

Well I always hate injury defaults, but congrats if during an at times nail-biting round you had Rocco comfortably cruising in your crystal ball.
