For anyone interested in how PSU has performed vs. the 3 other Frozen Four teams:

We did not play Wisconsin this season.
We played 2 games at Northeastern in late November. At the time, we were #4 and they were #7. We split the 2 games on their ice, a 3-2 loss and a 4-1 win.
We played at Ohio State in early January, losing both games, 5-1 and 4-1. Of our 5 losses on the season, those 2 were the only 2 losses that were by more than 1 goal. We were in the others. Our 2 conference losses were both in OT.

Other ranked teams we played out of conference include St. Lawrence, to open the season. They were pre-season #9 to our pre-season #8. We swept them at home, 3-0 and 5-2.
At the end of December, we played the first of a split 2-game series with #10 Cornell at home. We won that game 1-0, and then played the 2nd game at #12 Cornell 3 weeks later, winning 5-1.

Mercyhurst was the only other AHA team to receive a top 20 ranking through the season. They gave us one of our conference losses, 4-3 in OT, at Mercyhurst.

Based on this "point in time" data, it sure looks like we can play with Northeastern and probably Wisconsin. Ohio State has shown themselves to be a step up. I believe that gap is closing, and I suspect this weekend, showcasing Pegula and the program in general, will close it even further regardless of the outcome.

It seems as if OSU and Wisconsin have had a monopoly on this sport. It would be nice if a new school could break through, at least to the Championship game.

Ohio State dominating Northeastern, 4-0, late 2nd. It was 4-0 after 1.
