My wife and I will be flying from Bangkok to Osaka next February 11, then departing from Tokyo (for the return to the U.S.) late on the afternoon of February 17. This "detour" is the tail end of a trip to SE Asia, because we found a great flight back to the states out of Tokyo. Anyway, we will have 6 nights to spend in Japan. On the 11th, we basically will have dinner in Osaka and then call it a day. We then have 5 full days, with the last night spent in Tokyo and a good half day on the 17th.
