You beat me to the punch line.Y'all remember when Bellard picked MSU to win the SEC in July - just sayin

Not that I’m confident that he is going to make this OL work but I believe he was pretty open that the OL sucked last spring. It may have been later on in Spring though.Aint that what he said last year ?? I would bet my paycheck I can go back and find the quote
You don't think we were better? He wasn't lying.Aint that what he said last year ?? I would bet my paycheck I can go back and find the quote
You think the OL is worse? I don't. And I think it's more talented overall and deeper. But, experience is the question. I just can't see any way it could be worse than last season. One legged midgets would be better than last year. With the o-line we're going to put on the field, quality of defense won't matter at all....
I was there, Gandalf. I was there when the strength of [dawgs] failed.I mean the bowl game really gave me alot of hope for the upcoming season (eyeroll).
We lost 3 starters to other P4 programs & replaced them with a bunch of young guys who have virtually 0 playing time. Good luck breaking that OL in in the SEC.You think the OL is worse? I don't. The guys we had last years sucked, no matter where they went.We lost 3 starters to other P4 programs & replaced them with a bunch of young guys who have virtually 0 playing time. Good luck breaking that OL in in the SEC.
His win % as state’s head coach is far superior to Lebby’s.Interim Head Coach in Waiting circa November 1, 2026
Yep…. I wouldn’t be convinced Lebby would get 8 wins over the next 2 years. If we are playing 7 on 7, maybe.
Going from 2 wins to 5 wins (including winning an SEC game, winning against actually ranked team, being competitive with top tier teams) was night and day different. If wins go up 3 more this year. I will be pretty happy. You don't think we were better? He wasn't lying.
What was the context of the statement?heard him say it live and in person.
You're Right...Aint that what he said last year ?? I would bet my paycheck I can go back and find the quote
No we were better for sure. And I expect to be better again. And as usual by the season start I will have tricked myself into thinking we are gonna be contenders again. And as usual around game 4 I will snap back to reality. I am excited about Arnept, Taylor, and hopeful that they can create an OL out of these young guys. That is without a doubt the key to it all. IF Loadholt can build a cohesive OL. Big IFYou don't think we were better? He wasn't lying.
We lost James who this time last year was going through spring at Maryland. He got his feelings hurt.. we lost Owens who this time last spring was at Colorado… did you watch him this past year? We lost Lewis who was graded out as the worst LT in all of power 4. He was a sometimes starter. We lost 3 starters to other P4 programs & replaced them with a bunch of young guys who have virtually 0 playing time. Good luck breaking that OL in in the SEC.

He can’t read defenses. What's the word on Kamario? Does he still have an ankle? If so, has it been for quite a while?
Don't worry - by mid-July - I will have convinced myself of 7-8 wins.
Game 2 at Minnesota should be enough to bring you back down.No we were better for sure. And I expect to be better again. Just because they're not worse that last year doesn't mean they're not still bottom of the SEC (likely bottom of FBS).You think the OL is worse? I don't. And I think it's more talented overall and deeper. But, experience is the question. I just can't see any way it could be worse than last season. One legged midgets would be better than last year.
Why? Because he had a good half of a quarter against Arkansas whose defense was worse than ours?I tried my best to have some optimism last season. The close losses to FL and TX were infuriating, but showed we weren't that far off from being competitive in the SEC. And when Taylor was named the starter at the end of the season, I started to think that next year might be better.
And then the entire team came out hungover and uninspired for the bowl game and got their arses handed to them. I actually like Lebby's system on offense and I know that Arnett can coach a defense. But if Lebby can't manage and run a team, none of that matters.
They won’t be bottom of FBS. But bottom of the P2 conferences may not be too far off.Just because they're not worse that last year doesn't mean they're not still bottom of the SEC (likely bottom of FBS).
Being better than last year is an incredibly low bar.
There's only 138 schools in FBS. I'll be surprised if our O-Line is in the Top 100They won’t be bottom of FBS. But bottom of the P2 conferences may not be too far off.
I said my optimism was for next year. As he got more playing time, I could see the raw talent and hoped that by next year he would be able to read a defense, know the playbook better, etc. Why? Because he had a good half of a quarter against Arkansas whose defense was worse than ours?
Why would you have expectations with a guy that is 0-2 as a starter and doesn’t know how to read half a field yet.
