That and the large contract with guaranteed money did not help. He got complacent and lazy because he had that contract. If Arkansas gives him a contract like that, he would probably slide into retirement just getting by.
As soon as he gets that big contract, he will quit trying hard like at UK. Coast and boast.

Yeah, if he had been 13-21 instead of 21-13 and had a losing record last year, the points of termination would be stronger. But the fact that he has only been here two years makes it near to impossible to get rid of him at this point. If people think it was hard to get a good coach in here on the last search, imagine how hard it would be to get one now.
Now, if next year yields mor of the same or even worse? Yeah, do it.

I still don't understand the logic of a 3rd year as if it's some common collegiate basketball standard. If this was his first coaching gig, then I could see giving him time to get his footing. But that's not the case. He is who he is as a coach. Now when you add that to the fact that we appear to have a dire recruiting problem, we are looking at putting our program in bad position on the hopes that Pope will miraculously turn it around. We will have people on here making the exact same argument after season 3. Whether it's Stoops or Calipari we seem to have some odd aversion to changing course when everyone can see the writing on the wall.

Funny you should post this. Had a lot of wind last night and again today and some of my shingles on the roof are coming loose and I just had them replaced last May. Going to contact contractor because there is a warranty on them.

Mark Pope probably isn't the right guy for the job, but we should at least give the guy a fair shake. Let's see what he does with a healthy roster. If Butler (shoulder) and Robinson (out) were healthy, we had a Final 4 caliber team last year, but injuries matter.

Half the NBA played for Cal and he has 1 title. He’s the very definition of a choke artist.
He had 8 NBA players on that 2018 team, including SGA and he lost to an awful K-State team. Choke job.
What he did just last year after leading by 16 in the sweet 16 is a choke job.
What he did in the 2015 final 4, was a massive choke job.
2019 E8 against Auburn, choke job.

The insinuation that the SGA we see today, is the same as the SGA freshman year in college is truly wild stuff. In the loss to to Kstate has 2 for 10 with 5 assists and 5 turnovers. Were going to put that ALL on Cal? Not even a little bit on a young and inexperienced player? OK lol.

Pope made many mistakes, but a lot of this stuff is out of his control and no coach is winning in the SEC with that many injuries.
No Jaxson Robinson and the head of our snake (Lamont Butler) was playing with one good shoulder.
We never should have been blown out like that, but the injuries killed that team.

I don't know why we have to be so miserable. i think we can all agree that this has been an impossible uphill battle for Pope. Sure, he’s made his fair share of mistakes, but the injuries we have had the last 2 years would bury any program and the SEC is no joke, especially ladt year.
