Much better frame of mind this year. Last Olympics she was still recovering from the shock death of her father which caused her to almost quit. I also think pressure by NBC for her to be the next Olympic “Golden Girl” caused her to stretch herself way too thin. She puts a ton of pressure on herself, so more pressure is not helpful.Hope she doesn't lay about egg in the upcoming Olympics like she did in 2022.
If it’s not Mikeala it’s Lindsay. In soft and slower conditions where the hard pack might only be 3 feet wide, Lindsay set the pace from the 5th starter and won again, by .37. The 3rd section of 4 she gained speed where no one else could and that was it.
today wasn’t break neck speed but put on display how good she is.
Mikaela is not aiming for downhill at the Olympics and thus not racing any WC DH events this year. She will do Super G but not going tomorrow and still on track for 4 events at the Olympics.

Very disappointing for Vonn. Such a great comeback story and now she only has a week to try to feel 100% comfortable again. Probably no or limited practice runs as she tries to recover if she even can go.Vonn crashed hard in today's race. 3 of the first 6 crashed (she started 6th) and the race was canceled. Snowing, bad viz and apparently wicked bumpy.
Hurt her "good" knee not the replaced one but both had been hurt before. Since it just happened (4 hours ago) not clear how it affects the Olympic Downhill on Feb 8. She is also scheduled to ski the Super G and the new event Combined (Downhill and Slalom) possibly partnering with Mikeala.
Today was a the skiing version of a curb stomping. Winning margin over a second again today just like the Olympics. She’s become the crystal globe miser.Looks like Shiffrin has almost clinched her 6th overall World Cup title with a dominating win in the slalom this morning. It looks like she leads her opponent in 2nd place by 85 going into tomorrow’s last race - a Giant Slalom. She gained 40 points on Emma Aicher who finished 3rd, and Aicher has to win the GS to have any chance at beating Shiffrin. Great result by Aicher to even cling to a chance, but she’s never finished higher than 4th in a GS. Points for a win go from 100 for 1st to 80 for 2nd, so it’s win or bust for Aicher
