There was an interview with him post-match during states -- I think it's in the PIAA thread. Anyway, his t-shirt wasn't exactly tight fitting. He definitely has room to grow. Young man is going to be an Elite HWT for us. Will add good weight via the weight room and Added Calorie Diet in addition to jumping levels in our Room. Think he will attract other Elite Wrestlers as well.

You two should be an act. he can’t help but post **** on the board and you can’t help but respond to **** on the board.
Yep because what I said isn't true . Not everyone has the same level of wrestling understanding. It's ok to help others understand. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today?

Winning the 13th title this year and having 5-7 champs will attract more elite wrestlers then any recruit will.
Yeah, my first nationals was at Maryland, 1972. Andy Matter won 167 and Dave Joyner finished 2nd at hwt, I was tickled pink. There were only 6 AA's back then and if you lost your guy had to make the semis to wrestle back.

Schalles won at 150 but he wasn't the 1st Clarion wrestler to win, I think Gary Barton was unseeded and beat #2 kid from ISU.

Oh yeah, my wife came along, she graduated from Clarion.

I get what your post is all about, most of the apres' Cael Sanderson fans won't get it.

I have heard from many people how good Matter was some older Penn st fans still say he might be the best they ever saw in a Penn St singlet. What is your opinion?

They didn’t let freshmen wrestle back then, but in 1971, I didn’t go to nationals, think they were at Auburn. Matter is winning 8-0 and does something stupid and gets pinned. That taught him a lesson and from then on he was about wrist control. He could have won 3 times. His nemesis was Steve Shields from Lehigh, a rain barrel who would barrel roll everyone.
Matter beat him 5-5, 0-0 OT. The referees decided the winner back then.
He was who I said was the best for a long time, but today I say he was one of the best.

Funny, 3 days ago I ran into someone who wrestled for PS back when Matter wrestled. He made the team but not 1st string. He definitely would pick Matter. I mean today best ever is based on number of titles plus world and Olympic titles. Like Kerry McCoy got thrashed at 190 as a freshman then went on to be maybe the best hwt. John Fritz would sit out and get off bottom in 2 seconds but one match with Craig Turnbull of Clarion he couldn’t escape and the match was in the balance so he reached back with both hands around Turnbull’s head and flipped him over.
It’s more things that they did than numbers to me.
Bo pinning MyMar. Nolf and Cstar winning while injured.
Can’t think of the kid who transferred from Navy, wrestled all year at 126, had his knee scoped, moved up to 134 and won Nationals mainly using the Peterson.
The wrestlers who came through in the clutch and made you go wow instead of numbers for me. Can’t pick 3 I would regret it.
Of the young guns, PJ Duke is a wower reminds me of Carey Kolat, he wants to hurt people.

Scott Lynch was the Navy guy.
Ruth was so damn good Nolf as well and Cenzo was an animal and Quentin was so fun to watch. Duke is so good been a big fan of PJ forever great kid and he has a good head on his shoulders.

If there is a heaven, and I am lucky enough to get there i am asking upon arrival if I can watch a match between Andy Matter and Mitchell Mesenbrink.

You named the guys I could have named, Cenzo with his inside trip is memorable, Quentin with his throws, Ruth being so dam smooth.

PJ with his attitude.

I was a student at Penn State when Andy Matter was there. I have had season tickets since I graduated in 1970. I feel the same way that Andy Matter was an amazing wrestler and could be in that conversation for best of all time at Penn State.

Speaking of PSU commits:

There is a young guy who Marsteller trains named Gannon Beach who tore the 13-14 Keystones bracket apart at 157. Does anybody know much on him. I realize he is only Junior High age, but he might deserve a follow.

Goes to Dallastown. Was at Mayfields before they merged with Stellar. Super nice kid, does everything right. Very strong for his age, but gets better every year. Won keystones last year, pjws this year as well. Won Tulsa. Bonus the whole way through i think. Was also the OW at Northern invitational this year. Long way to go, but a lot to like. He’s really good at football too.

Calling Ant Cassar… 18 months and he’ll be 245 and ready for 2027-28 but will be a backup for two yrs.

I'm surprised a PSU recruit is allowed to win a outstanding wrestler award. Enjoy it James, it might be your last unfortunately, due to prevalent thought that PSU wins too much!
