the only reason we are dangerous is because we are so bad we disrupt the flow of the game, not bc we are good
I'm glad we suck so bad and came away with winds over St. John's Tennessee twice Arkansas and Vanderbilt. I wish we could've been a little worse yesterday so we could've beaten Florida.

From the automatic extension? Because finishing 9th in the SEC with a Sweet-16 appearance isn't the standard.
Getting into the Sweet 16 means nothing if we continue to place in the lower half of the SEC. Like it’s insanity to think conference placing isn’t important to Kentucky. And getting in the “top 4” isn’t good enough either. We expect to win the conference title.

It’s not the standard, but find me a coach that was fired after getting to 2 sweet 16's with massive injuries to 3 starters each year. Nobody is firing Pope and it’s not about standards.

Man , little emotional aren't you? Pop a midol and relax. Pope will be here next year so you will get your wish and get another mediocre year. I'm sure it wont be his fault.
I'm as calm as a cucumber, not sure what you mean.

I wonder if he’ll quit watching Kentucky if we fire Pope like so many of the other Popettes are claiming they’ll do?
Y'all are the ones complaining and hoping we lose, I'm hoping we win.
Weird take by you.

Bullsh*t.
Kam was a starter when he got hurt.
Lowe is our only pg
JQ was always going to start.

Nice try though.
So I guess when Piper takes 5 injured guys that can’t play until January you will have a built in excuse for the first half of the year? Keep sunshine pumping. It won’t matter in the end but keep doing you.

Pope is not getting fired after this season, even if we lose in the first round.

I think you would need to see a Final-4 run before we labeled this a successful season with a contract extension.

But under the current contract language, Pope would receive an auto extension if we make it to the 2nd weekend. I could see that making fans angry. We're literally just adding to the buyout if this doesn't work out again next season.

He has to get to the S16. Anything less is backsliding.

has to land SOMEBODY in rxeutiting to have any kind of momentum.

I don’t like it per se, but he gets next year. And it’s for all the marbles.

I dont see anyway this team beats any of the 2 seeds to get to the S16. We needed to get a 6 to get one of the 3s to have a chance. Only way we get to the S16 is a 15 2 upset in our region.

I don’t think there’s any danger in it, but mark my words if they pull off a miracle and get to the sweet 16 it will just set the program further behind and do more harm than good. Why? It gives Pope an extra year on his contract and makes the buyout that much more when he stinks it up again next season.

I personally don’t think losing 14 games and finishing 9th in the SEC is a good season and worthy of that. Call me a bad fan if you want I don’t care what the fan police has to say. I can use my eyes and see Kentucky under this staff is way behind several teams in the conference and even more nationally.

Before tourney play, we gotta find out how to expose the weaknesses of the team's we play. Scouting reports could be make or break.

I just hope they play with renewed interest in winning games....We all long for the team that beat Purdue early in the season.

We’re at the point where some of our “fans” are rooting for the Cats to lose to ensure the coach fails in hopes of spurring a coaching change.

Some have a very simple mentality that a coaching change is a magic fix because it worked like that with Cal and Pitino. It didn’t work that way for Hall (took him 6 years to win a title and 3 to go to a Final Four, but this bunch would’ve demanded his firing after going .500 his second year as Rupp’s successor). Sutton wasn’t an upgrade from Hall and nearly killed the program. Smith was a downgrade from Pitino. Gillispie was a downgrade from Smith. Pope has been a downgrade from Calipari so far. Point being, coaching changes are no sure fire thing. About half the time, we get worse than before.

I have seen some of your other posts, and you and I are on the same page of believing UK can’t just “select” its next coach from any school or pro franchise we want.

If Pope doesn’t work out, we’re likely rolling the dice on another coach with a similar resume or experience mostly at a small school. I don’t think any current coach who has won a title would leave where they are to put up with this fanbase and an administration that’s behind the times in this new era.

This isn’t 40 years ago. Blue blood schools need elite coaches way more than elite coaches need blue blood schools in 2026. I know it sucks to hear and say, but it’s the truth.
So I guess we should just accept being mediocre huh?

Cal about to win the SEC tournament, be a top 5 seed that could make a run and have a good recruiting class while we’ve finished 6th and 9th in conference the last two years. People will still say they’re so happy we have hope with Pope instead though and he needs time 😂

I don't worry about KY basketball, although I follow it.
I cannot control it.
I let Pope and staff worry about it.
That's what they get paid for.

If he had hair it would be a lot grayer than it was 2 years ago.
Fact - by the start of next season Pope will look he’s aged 5 years since the Rupp press conference …. this job does that to coaches.

Well, that’s a post you can be proud of. Well developed, articulate and clever.

I stand by what I said, I’ve watched CBB religiously for over three decades. We are not a 7 that any 2 seed wants to see in their bracket.
Based on what? What does this team do that would scare a 2 seed? Or a 10 seed for that matter?

Nothing at all, man. Just carry on. They do nothing good and are probably a very low-quality 7 seed that hasn’t shown a propensity to play above their normal performance level time to time. Nothing to see here. I’m just an idiot who throws my opinion out there without first carefully considering the “why” behind it unlike the very reasonable people who spent most of the year telling anyone who would listen that this team was going to miss the tournament and that Pope won’t be back for a third year…..

This team is the “unpredictables”. Can play with anybody or lose to anyone. Who knows which team shows up lol

I'm just not seeing that this year. We can focus for two solid games and then we look like we've never played the sport before. We've maybe beat 2 or 3 GOOD teams this year. If we run into Duke or Houston we're OAD.
Yeah I agree with this.

Ok. I know the LSU game was on Wednesday in the middle of the day so maybe you didn’t see it?

But anyone that did see it and says our defense improved is certifiable.
Our defense actually has improved. It’s up big from where it was early in the SEC schedule, but I digress.

Yeah, I would not want to see Pope get an extension until he shows something other than a coach that can, at best, lose 10 games and reach a sweet 16.

No worries while Cal is playing in the SECT finals and we’re at home.
Now take Acuff, Knox and Brazile off their team, are they in the SECT finals?

Cal was an 11 seed last year, we were a 3. He lost to South Carolina by 30. Facts suck sometimes, don't they?
