I think that’s self-evident. We have improved some over the course of the year but shots just didn’t fall yesterday. We look to be a pretty dangerous 7 seed

I stand by what I said, I’ve watched CBB religiously for over three decades. We are not a 7 that any 2 seed wants to see in their bracket.
Why would they suddenly find that fire and play so much better for 6 more games? What will change between now and next Thursday/Friday to serve as the catalyst for this change? If we have the answer to that, then why the hell haven't we implemented that solution yet?

It's hard to believe that. Our ceiling against top 5 comp is a single digit loss. Not enough talent to overcome.

I agree totally. But how many highly ranked UK teams full of pro talent have been upset by lower tier D1 teams by "disrupting" the flow of the game? How did a South Carolina team beat John Wall-Boogie Cousins team with a guard that barely broke 6 ft. in height but somehow was able to slice our defense to pieces for circus layups? How did Evansville beat UK in Rupp? I could go on & on. My point is, this season, like it or not, UK is that team. So I continue to cheer for them, and hope for the best this season.

Idk man. Looks to me we are about the same as when the season started. Look and play good. Lay an egg. Look and play good. Lay an egg. We’ve been inconsistent all year from game to game. The one huge improvement I see is in Aberdeen running the point.
He’s not going to say what you want to hear, but I guarantee he won’t lose any sleep when he’s gone.
Oh I definitely agree we are still inconsistent, but I definitely think we have trended up compared to early season. I expect we lose in the round of 32, but we can be a threat to beat the right 2 seed, something that the early season version of this team was not going to have any chance at. Shoot, this was a bubble team two games into conference play. By the end of conference play, we were still off and on, but their “on” could beat any non-elite team in a one-game scenario.
Pope 100% needs better media training. He says stuff then realizes it’s ********, and tries to walk it back some, then realizes that makes him sound wishy-washy, so he walks back the walk back.
I *think* what he is trying to say is that Oweh was focused (which I already don’t believe but let’s give him that) and that if we can get the rest of the team to be that focused for 40 minutes then we can make some noise in the tournament. Of course, he knows that’s just an empty promise so he tries to sound more confident and it all just falls apart.

I agree. Yeah, this has been a bad season, but if you're a 2 seed, I don't think you want to see UK in round 2.
If he gets to the SS, there's going to be a lot of pissed off UK fans in here
I think playing teams that aren't familiar with us will certainly help.
I don't see how that will make a difference if we don't give 40 minutes of effort, which we consistently fail to do. I'm not going to waste my time trying to lie to myself that this team has what it takes

Most 2 seeds wouldn't be in the top 5 and any t4am that can win @ Arkansas, can beat a 2 seed on a neutral.

We’re at the point where some of our “fans” are rooting for the Cats to lose to ensure the coach fails in hopes of spurring a coaching change.
Some have a very simple mentality that a coaching change is a magic fix because it worked like that with Cal and Pitino. It didn’t work that way for Hall (took him 6 years to win a title and 3 to go to a Final Four, but this bunch would’ve demanded his firing after going .500 his second year as Rupp’s successor). Sutton wasn’t an upgrade from Hall and nearly killed the program. Smith was a downgrade from Pitino. Gillispie was a downgrade from Smith. Pope has been a downgrade from Calipari so far. Point being, coaching changes are no sure fire thing. About half the time, we get worse than before.
I have seen some of your other posts, and you and I are on the same page of believing UK can’t just “select” its next coach from any school or pro franchise we want.
If Pope doesn’t work out, we’re likely rolling the dice on another coach with a similar resume or experience mostly at a small school. I don’t think any current coach who has won a title would leave where they are to put up with this fanbase and an administration that’s behind the times in this new era.
This isn’t 40 years ago. Blue blood schools need elite coaches way more than elite coaches need blue blood schools in 2026. I know it sucks to hear and say, but it’s the truth.

Your last comment is a gem. Many of us experienced the Sutton debacle and probation. We stuck with the team then and will continue to do so.

Getting down double digits so many games against legit teams and losing 14 games just doesn't excite me. And a 9th place sec finish.
Florida played awful outside of dominating the glass. If they just hit 1/3 of their 3's and dont turn the ball over 18 times it would of been a complete blowout. I mean we were down 17 despite their poor play.
I love the cats too but we have to deal in reality. Our program has been mediocre for 7 years now. The downfall didn't start with Pope but he is not the answer and we are obviously regressing.
