I don’t disagree, however, he may be more valuable out of the pen in multiple games. Matty can be the set up man for GlauberI wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the Sunday guy midway through ACC play
Agree. Go Matty hereWould love to save Glauber's arm here and go to the pen
I agree and sometimes they don't know who is at the plate or how to pronounce the names of the Tar HeelsThe armchair coaching from these announcers is cracking me up
The pronunciation errors are escalatingI agree and sometimes they don't know who is at the plate or how to pronounce the names of the Tar Heels
Globber, Ma-thighs (at least he corrected that one), Boze, and that's all this inningI agree and sometimes they don't know who is at the plate or how to pronounce the names of the Tar Heels
If needed, he’ll be available Sunday. Didn’t really have to tax much either. 3 relatively stress free innings.Once he came in the game, he wasn't likely going to pitch tomorrow anyways, based on how we've treated freshmen arms in the bullpen.
And 35 pitches doesn't burn him for Sunday.
I really don’t like this type of comment. People need to vent their thoughts. This is such a stressful season for us true tar heels. This forum is my truest friend. Sorry to hear you don’t feel the same TarHeelAlum1987I’m not a big baseball guy, but I feel like whenever I read this thread it’s just people overreacting for 9 innings straight! Maybe just let them boys play and they’ll do their thing like they did later in the game? This isn’t basketball, there’s no clock! Go Heels!
I’m just trying to keep the positivity because I think that’s more beneficial than complaining for half the game than acting like it’s “expected” when they finally do something good. Highs aren’t very high and the lows are very low…I really don’t like this type of comment. People need to vent their thoughts. This is such a stressful season for us true tar heels. You know, you’re growing on me TarHeelAlum. This is very wise of you. Baseball is a game that’s all about how you take failure. Thank you for teaching me a little more about that tonight. I’ll look out for more of your posts.I’m just trying to keep the positivity because I think that’s more beneficial than complaining for half the game than acting like it’s “expected” when they finally do something good. Great point Tommy. The coaches don’t want Glauber going 15, 15, 15 pitches or something in 3 straight days when in all likelihood he may be our third starter in the postseason. There is value in keeping him relatively lengthened out. Forbes has said explicitly that he views Glauber like he viewed Trent Thornton years ago. Thornton started our second game in Omaha one year after pitching out of the bullpen most of the season. Can't win them all without winning the first one and as Forbes has said many many times on the show with us....you do whatever it takes to get the first one, period.
And as someone already pointed out, Glauber threw 35 pitches....he's good for another go this weekend if needed.
The season is a process....winning each individual game is important, but also, it's not one game, one game, one game...when it comes to lengthening out a pitcher and preparing them for more later.
hard to argue that (Dusty) logicThere’s nothing wrong with either decision. Although rare, and I’m paraphrasing Dusty Baker said “there’s a thousand ways a throw that isn’t needed can go wrong, the only way you’re going to screw up running the baseball in after a stolen out is to trip over your own feet”. Like I said, either works and the throw is going to happen 99/100 of times but just really good awareness to not risk a bad throw when the runner is halfway home and you have less than 80’ to run.
