Dont understand why you do not go to pen here.

But as mentioned earlier we did the same thing last year. But luckily if efficient he can pitch Sunday most likely

Ended up working out. He should be good for Sunday, but still would rather go to the pen there for future situations in case he was not that efficient

Great win though

I’m not a big baseball guy, but I feel like whenever I read this thread it’s just people overreacting for 9 innings straight! Maybe just let them boys play and they’ll do their thing like they did later in the game? This isn’t basketball, there’s no clock! Go Heels!

I really don’t like this type of comment. People need to vent their thoughts. This is such a stressful season for us true tar heels. This forum is my truest friend. Sorry to hear you don’t feel the same TarHeelAlum1987 :(

I’m just trying to keep the positivity because I think that’s more beneficial than complaining for half the game than acting like it’s “expected” when they finally do something good. Highs aren’t very high and the lows are very low…

You know, you’re growing on me TarHeelAlum. This is very wise of you. Baseball is a game that’s all about how you take failure. Thank you for teaching me a little more about that tonight. I’ll look out for more of your posts.

Can't win them all without winning the first one and as Forbes has said many many times on the show with us....you do whatever it takes to get the first one, period.

And as someone already pointed out, Glauber threw 35 pitches....he's good for another go this weekend if needed.
The season is a process....winning each individual game is important, but also, it's not one game, one game, one game...when it comes to lengthening out a pitcher and preparing them for more later.

Great point Tommy. The coaches don’t want Glauber going 15, 15, 15 pitches or something in 3 straight days when in all likelihood he may be our third starter in the postseason. There is value in keeping him relatively lengthened out. Forbes has said explicitly that he views Glauber like he viewed Trent Thornton years ago. Thornton started our second game in Omaha one year after pitching out of the bullpen most of the season.

It’s also not like Glauber is our only guy who can close a game. Walker McDuffie and Matty Matthijs not having to pitch at all in a Friday night win is also valuable. Glauber is doing great but he isn’t so entrenched as our closer that there is some huge gap in my trust in him to close out a game compared to those other two guys.

There’s nothing wrong with either decision. Although rare, and I’m paraphrasing Dusty Baker said “there’s a thousand ways a throw that isn’t needed can go wrong, the only way you’re going to screw up running the baseball in after a stolen out is to trip over your own feet”. Like I said, either works and the throw is going to happen 99/100 of times but just really good awareness to not risk a bad throw when the runner is halfway home and you have less than 80’ to run.
hard to argue that (Dusty) logic 👍

you have a chance to slam the door in Game one of a road series coming off a frustrating series loss, I think you gotta do it especially when the pitch count is that low. If Glauber is the closer let him close.
