Very interesting day. Kenneth Walker and Travis Eitienne were way overpaid. Mike Evans to the Niners makes a ton of sense. I wish the Steelers would rebuild but the Pittman deal and the Dean signing were quality moves. Seems like one of the more intriguing starts to NFL FA in a while. Hopefully it leads to more deals before and during the draft.

Also, can anyone explain what the Jets and Giants are doing? Maybe the Giants get a pass because of Harbaugh but has anyone told him they have Theo Johnson and didn't need to spend 40M on Likely? And God bless Falcons fans....good luck with Tua until Pennix is back. Might actually see his career end with those concussions forthcoming.
The Pittman and Dean signings were really quality signings. Pittman is underrated because he was in Indy and they had trash QB play prior to Daniel Jones getting there this year. He is really good. They also resigned Asante Samuel Jr. If you combine the signings with their 12 draft picks, they have an opportunity to reshape the roster pretty quickly this year. They have to find a QB though.

Makes it much easier to leave to get your pay day to set your family up long term when you have that Super Bowl ring on the finger.

I am a big Dotson fan for obvious PSU reasons and sorry to see him leave my Iggles but good for him going somewhere else and getting paid. Being #3 behind 2 great WRs had to be tough but he did win a Super Bowl!!

Your last sentence is like besides that Mrs Lincoln how was the play. They are going no where fast unless they find a franchise QB. Also, not so sure about McCarthy but at least it is not Tomlin and he has a solid track record.

The point is they need to get younger and they can very quickly. I agree on the QB but that is easier said than done. I hope they trade away Patrick Queen. He stinks.

Maybe it’s just me but I think this smells like something is rotten in Denmark. Ravens renege on trade for Crosby citing “medical” concerns and then immediately pivot and sign Hendrickson who has his own injury history. You’ll have to excuse my cynicism for thinking this had much to do about buyer’s remorse for agreeing that send two 1st round picks and far less to do with medical concerns. I think hell might freeze over before the Raiders deal with the Ravens again.

100% it was buyer’s remorse. Good move by the Ravens. Everyone knew Crosby’s medical issues, this was not something unexpected that came up in the medical and surprised the Ravens. Barnwell gave the trade an A for the Raiders and a C- for the Ravens. It was a terrible trade for Baltimore.

Ratbirds will get away with this underhanded deal because Rodger is BFF’s with the team’s owner. However, this paints the Ratbirds as a scumbag organization with the rest of the league and they won’t have many friends in the future.

The Ravens had to know before they made the deal that Crosby could not pass a physical at this stage of his recovery from surgery. I listened to Dr. David Chow, an orthopedic surgeon and former team physician for an NFL team, on the NFL channel. I have listened to him in the past and he is knowledgeable but concedes that his comments are based on not having seen the player or had the benefit of reviewing his records. He said that it was clear that Crosby couldn’t pass a physical two months post surgery since he had meniscus repair and not a meniscus trim and that there the recovery time from his surgery was normally 4 to 6 months. He said that it was possible that the doctors who examined Crosby may have found additional damage and, if so, that situation may cause problems long term although he was confident Crosby could play successfully in the short term. He also said that while the Ravens reneging on the deal was not illegal, he said he fully understands why the Raiders and probably other GMs were not happy with the Ravens

IMO the Ravens knew the ins and outs of the issues with Crosby’s knee before making the trade. Hell, even I (Dr. Oblivious) knew about them last week! I submit to you that there were no surprises for the Ravens when they read the notes on Crosby’s physical. Maybe they were hoping that MC’s knee was better than it ended up being but zero doubt in my mind that nothing about the physical itself changed the Raven’s minds. Simple explanation: the universal scorn at Baltimore’s dumbass trade spooked them. You don’t trade two first round picks for a 29-year-old who has gotten a ton of usage and has knee issues. Buyer’s remorse, end of story. Of course, Crosby’s knee issues were significant enough for Baltimore to to “legally” blow up the trade, but Baltimore always knew about these issues.

Your synopsis seems to be 100% correct. What I was told is that they wanted to make a splash in free agency and when they were asking around, the Raiders said they wanted two 1sts. The ravens figured that wasn’t bad because it’s a mid round pick this year and they felt that next year‘s pick would be late in the first round. But then the public outrage was enough for ownership to tell the doctors to get them out of this mess.
