Ohio State Sweeps Big Ten Wrestling Awards

Why does anyone care about this? We sent 8 to the BIG finals and went 7-1! We have our entire team participating at the NCAAs and all 10 could AA. We don't need these awards, the proof is on the mat. I do not believe anyone is waiting to hear whom the COY or freshman of the year will be because as we all know, all the eyes are on the Blue and White to see if they continue to display this incredible dynasty.
It gives us something to talk about for a week until seeds come out.

In related news, the White House announced today that the entire Ohio State wrestling team will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom because they once recited the pledge of allegiance before their black shirt ceremony.
Cael probably cares so little, he may have voted for Ryan.

Basch explained the Freshman of the Year award this morning on his show. He said he was told by a coach this morning that each team could submit ONLY 1 wrestler from their team for consideration of the award PRIOR to the tournament taking place (which makes zero sense). Penn State submitted Blaze (possibly because Duke had 1 loss going in and Blaze 0).
Willie justified Mendez over Mess and Barr for Wrestler of the Year due to Mendez strength of schedule.
They both agreed that Tom Ryan definitely did not deserve Coach of the Year and acknowledged it was likely due to Penn State fatigue.
As Nicky said earlier, these have become Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion awards at this point.

I wholeheartedly agree with the idea that nobody in the room cares about the awards, but I do hope and imagine that our wrestlers are a little annoyed for Coach Cael.

I think the awards make the other B1G coaches look like small, petty people. F 'em. PSU will just keep on dominating. And I agree the coaches and wrestlers couldn't care less.
SOS? The SOS means more than the fact they got beat 36-5 in the Big10 dual meet of the year and lost by 40 in the team tournament. Dang Ohio State had a really great year, except those two events they were required to compete against Penn State.
Thats why I dont understand why Tom was crying that Cael didnt go to National Duals. That is the only reason OSU won.

The Nicholls thing became the biggest curse I can think of, and in a way I believe VV getting the nod was a middle finger to the whole state of the program's dependency on the portal.

Screw them. In response to their jealousy, I think PSU should withdraw wrestling from the Big 10 and help form a new PA centric conference. Help elevate Lehigh, Clarion, Pitt (yes Pitt), Bucknell, etc. to national prominence and keep more PA kids home. We can then use our non-conference schedule to mix in some freestyle matches against the Japanese National team, the Russian team, etc. and a home and away with the NLWC guys (folk and free). We get the best competition from within anyway and I’m sure we can get good TV money to broadcast our matches.
So what. Does anyone on the PSU team care if they get the Hodge or OW? I listened to Messenbrink's interview after the Bigs and he could care less about this sort of stuff.

Four Big Ten teams placed in positions 2-8 at the National Duals. Those other coaches should be thanking Cael for not being there and dropping the entire field a spot.

Cael may not be steaming hot mad about the Hodge process, but he is clearly perturbed about it.

I really think the reason he is perturbed about it is he knows, as do most people with common sense, that his wrestlers deserve the accolades which they would get without the anti Penn State bias.
