Allow me to stir the pot…of 13 weight classes in AA, Faith Christian got 5, McCort 3, McDevitt and Trinity 1 each. Who says recruiting doesn’t matter!

Great job Duke. True freshman having the baseline defense that duke and blaze do is so critical. Offense is awesome and sexy but in March, you gotta be able to get back to basics

Whoops. Lol

Bechtold had one opponent make the 2nd period all year. He majored Nolan Reinert 14-1 in the semis. (Coincidentally or otherwise, Reinert was a 215 for most of the year, and attacked Bechtold on feet.) Nobody else lasted longer than 1:57.

Lehigh got themselves a really good HWT prospect.
Lehigh also has a really good heavyweight room with coaches . Zach Rey, Greg K. and Taylor from this year.

Feels like in years past pa power and piaa put out the final placers as they took the podium. PIAA nowhere to be found and Pa Power is silent on it.
One thing that really annoys me about PaPower is that one of the main guys is an Iowa fan. Could we just have 1 sport where we’re not swimming upstream against the press in our own state? I’m sure he was born in the late 90s or so and grew up when the Hawkeyes mattered, but those days are over.
If he likes Iowa so much, move to Des Moines and do a podcast with Chad Leistokow

The PIAA should add third division for the team championship tournament. Public AA, AAA and Private School Class.
Year end tournament should be all kids in 2 Classes.
Private Schools go AAA. Adjust the AA and AAA public enrollment threshold by dropping some of the smaller AAA schools to AA.

The face Sidun made when last week's loss was brought up:

As much as we complain about stalling in college matches, high school has it worse.

Out of 26 state finals matches, 5 were 1-0 finals, and 3 more were 1-1 after regulation. Another final was 3-0 on a reversal + penalty point. (I'm not counting the 4-1, 4-2 type matches because at least they had one takedown.)

I can't imagine all 9 of those matches -- over 1/3 of the state finals -- were full of action that simply didn't result in scoring.

That's horrendous.

Yeah, and making it worse: only 2 of those were above 152. The light and middle weights -- which should have more action and be less affected by smaller mats -- were the worst offenders.

Obviously refs need to get more aggressive (but where have we heard that before?). Also, PIAA mats are miniscule, too many natural stoppages even when guys aren't boundary huggers. Thirdly, badly need to go to the stepout rule to force action closer to center. Fourth, folk-adapted version of criteria where no match can be tied after regulation.

As much as people whine about the stepout rule theoretically turning every match into Iowa pushing and shoving: this 1-0/1-1 dreck is far worse than a 4-3 match with all points scored on pushouts.

During Keegan Bassett’s semis match against Rothermel, there was a 30-second long period - with under one minute to go in the 3rd- while Bassett was on top that Rothermel was on his feet, then Bassett dropped and held on to either one or both legs and didn’t get warned even once for stalling.

Iowa style. Brutal.

In past years the ref would've given Bassett a token stall call with 5 sec left, when it would've had no effect and been too late for Rothermel to do anything about it. Aka the PIAA Special.

As bad as this was, I'm not sure it was much worse than usual.

Hutch is a SO can't commit yet. He will follow Sidun and Brown to PSU I am all but positive
He can commit at any time. Dalton Perry committed as a FR. But nearly all recruits are smart to wait.

Hutcherson cannot be directly contacted by college coaches until this summer, IIRC June 15. Cael will call him that day.

Just a general question. If a recruit such as Hutcherson were to email Cael or call him, is Cael allowed to respond at all? Even if it is "Hey, we can talk June 15."

I could be wrong, but I think it’s a pretty hard no in that situation. The NCAA is very strict about that kind of thing.
Now, come on. Recruits run into SEC coaching legends all the time accidentally at school assemblies held in AD offices.

The NCAA never seems to mind.
