Why is the ref not hitting the Purdue kid. It's 6 shots to 0. Now 7 shots to 0. This ref completely sucks. Catka is getting robbed here.

So they called the takedown when he had the cradle locked up and let him finish out the last 25 seconds with it….then called it off once time expired?

Bailey just too quick for Oliveris loses. Desperation shot at end made it 11-6. He had Bailey completely gassed.

Needs to push pace earlier and dominate 3rd. Best formula to beat him. Think Olivieri can make push to AA. A lot will obviously depend on match ups. Should get a decent seed like 10-11 would think.

Barbaosa is completely outclassed here. Araujo's 7' length countering everything for takedowns. 10-0.

The SCW felt closer than the score. In deep on multiple shots, but Mantanona is funky. Turned scrambles into bonus points

TBH, I think it was a blessing that Dean left. There wasn't much of a regression with a much younger Smith and it really doesn't appear that DP improved at Iowa. He still plays his matches close and it's seriously the same blueprint while he was at RU.
I mentioned this years ago but the term “diva” was thrown around about Dean when he was here including by people within the program

Olivieri with a chance to wrestle for 5th is fine, probably has a better spot on the podium with a better seed but that’s only his fault. I think he can go on a run at nationals but we’ve had guys in his position many times in the past draw the 16/17 seed which makes the road extremely difficult. Hoping he can be closer to around 10.

We're going to get blanked 0-5 for 3rd/4th. Cotton being mauled going on 4 mins. of riding time in the 2nd. down 5-0. Would have been some big upsets but Cotton's #3 seed was way off.

This round has not been good. Bottom line we have a bunch of mid level 15-25 ranked guys. Good enough to win some matches but when you face the top 10 level guys just not competitive. Here and there we have one but thats not the norm. We have to get more talent. Hopefully Knox and Harer are starts. Zalota seems to have a ton of potential. We need to get some more top 10-20 level recruits and/or transfers. Its possible. F’in Maryland has Carter Young who is probably better then anyone we have.

Been saying it all along, how a wrestlers freshman season goes, on avg, is roughly the lvl a wrestler stays his career.. Dean always been a R12ish, ability to get big wins if he’s on, maybe can low AA some years if he’s on.. we essentially traded Dean for Pinto in the off season essentially, both pretty much R12ish, can score big upsets, maybe can low AA if on…. If Dean stayed then perhaps Ford starts, think he woulda qualified too.

Hopefully Smith can begin his bulk up to 133 next season if he has a good postseason. People say he’s way too tiny but he still might be our best option for 133 if Knox goes 125… ppl say Arnold is too tiny for 197 but he’s still Iowa’s current best option there.

Cotton was seeded fairly though.. 197 at b10 outside of Barr, is surprisingly pretty weak. Cotton had the win over #4 seed John and John had beaten #5 Geog… it was seeded right.. there was even a case maybe Cotton shoulda gotten #2 seed as him and #2 McDaniel both were 7-1 against conference but McDaniel had the better quality wins (he beat Geog and Sollars).

Arnold is a mass of muscle. Smith is well defined, but needs to build muscle weight. I think going 133 will be a disadvantage for him, although if he's the best we have, so be it. I do think he is a good talent and won't be surprised if he looks elsewhere for a 125 starting spot. Dean had a better year and can still pull off some upsets.

SCW gets a forfeit for 5th and Oliveri is favored but the other 3 weights we already lost to the guy we re wrestling

I don’t think u get my point of Smith still might be our best option at 133, obviously 125 would be ideal for him just like 174 would be ideal for Arnold. If Knox goes 125 u think Smith should not even bother trying to win the 133 spot? Kennedy going 174 and Angelo 184 for Iowa should Arnold not even try 197?

And yes obviously Dean had the better year, but going into this year they both were roughly R12ers that can pull off big upsets, and can possibly AA if on…. Pinto hasn’t had a good year by any means but at least he had a decent b10..

Arnold is a top 10 recruit who is wrestling for 9th place in the weakest weight in the Big 10. How do you think smith who is 8th at a weight hes already undersized at is going to do at 133?

Arnold is a natural 174er wresting up two weights but hey your probably right Smith should not even bother trying.

I got it. I said, "I think going 133 will be a disadvantage for him, although if he's the best we have, so be it," which means he should be the guy at 133 if he's the best we have. However, I think Gibson will be better if he wrestles at 133, where I think he belongs.

8 guys to nationals and it’s an absolute crime if Shawver isn’t the 9th

Did White do enough to get in? Shawver should get a WC spot at 133 short of massive ********. So either we get 9 in or all 10 in.
