Davis is a loose cannon. Not seeing all the Penn St "fun n religion" in his demeanor
I don’t think we should be throwing stones our guy, his opponent , was mysteriously suspended most of the season , we just signed a recruit whose been in court all year for getting into a brawl at districts with his dad and we hired an assistant coach who had just got arrested for weed and gun charges a year or so after he got shot in another situation lol I’d take Davis as our 133 next year in a heartbeat

4 in the consi semis guaranteed top 6
2 wrestling for 7th that are qualified
and 3 guys who really need to win their 9th place brackets

Good news for Catkas wildcard chances . he beat the guys who won the PAC 12 and the MAC.

if Shawver takes 9th he’ll have a descent chance but he needs to beat Brown.

White needs to take care of business to lock up the wildcard

This ref is braindead calling stalling on Barbosa when he's taking a bunch of shots.

Agree

What did we say about refs again?!?! Lol

Jokes aside, Barbosa is just not strong enough yet. Look at the other three kids that were in the semi-finals. It's obvious he's a red shirt freshman.

Eh think this season emphasized that it should not matter if your a freshman.. you don’t “gotta wait ur turn” if ur good enough can get it done now.

7 NCAA qualifiers. Catka needs 2 wins to place 9th and qualify. Shawver & White need 2 wins and then a lot of help for an at large.

Who said anything about mattering or not being good enough. Lets be fair...he got to the semis as a 7 seed...no hate coming from me.

Give the kid a litte love...as he gets stronger he'll get even better

No there are only 8 allocations at 133 and 157.
They need a wildcard, each weight has 4.

If White takes 9th he should be Ok for a wildcard.
Shawver on the other hand, if he takes 9th, it's up in the air and anyone's guess.

I agree, I’m just saying I disagree with the he didn’t get this result bc “he’s a freshman” logic. Think it’s almost an advantage to be young and hungry these days.

I agree with you that more and more top freshman are coming in and making a lot of noise. But I think we can both agree that when you compare the physique and strength of Barbosa versus the other three guys in the semifinals there was a clear difference. I'm not blaming the kid for it I'm just pointing out a fact. IMHO, It played a role on why he got outmatched today.

Ferrari and Allred forfeits puts Walsh in good position for 3rd. Plus Vanadia forfeited. So Cotton has a good shot at third.

We are currently in 8th. Have a good chance at 6th. That would be great. If we finish 8th, we are in the bottom half of the Big Ten. I consider that mediocre.

Ferrari is a master staller. 1:00+ parallel ride and never gets hit with stalling is wild. 0 attempts to score or turn.

Walsh has Mantanona, Alfred and Ferrari are on the other side of the wrestleback bracket.

This is unfortunately the world of top wrestling now. AJ won a national championship with spiral rides to out of bounds probably half dozen times. Forward pressure is not action. Nobody looking to turn anymore.

I'm not sure any the situation are comparable. Regardless, I judge patterns of behavior much more harshly than singular offenses. Davis has been taking cheap shots all year at people.

Don’t be soft this is wrestling and this is Jersey. He had literally one situation with Hardy , and if Hardy pinned Joey then gave him belly taps right after Joey would react the same way. Do you forget the Ashnault years when half the teams motto was “mobbing” people . Everyone in the lineup was throwing hard clubs and rubbing peoples face in the mat and surprise! that time period also coincides with the best years in program history. Joey was clubbing the heck out of Davis before Davis responded.

TBH, I think it was a blessing that Dean left. There wasn't much of a regression with a much younger Smith and it really doesn't appear that DP improved at Iowa. He still plays his matches close and it's seriously the same blueprint while he was at RU.
