No guarantee but if he finishes 9th at big 10s I’d say he has a solid case. He doesn’t have any good wins but did beat Bentncourt which is someone he’ll be up against for a bid and 133 has an extra wildcard bc Frost from ISU dropped out because he couldn’t hold the weight anymore

Smith stops, thinking he has the three as indicated by the ref, kid gets behind him and gets the three. How the fv*k does that work? In a SV first takedown wins match, kind of unbelievable he changed that and horrible officiating.

Abysmal BS call overturning Smith's danger takedown. Corday stalled the entire match and should've been banged more too. Can't overturn a danger 3 count. Refs strike again.
Any close situation like that goes against Rutgers 99% of the time
That was just horrendous. What happened to the old adage of rewarding the more aggressive wrestler
I don't understand how a ref overruled his own 3 count for danger.
At the very least. If he blew the whistle after rewarding then points shouldn’t they start back in neutral if overturned?
Especially when he had a clear view of it... But to then award 3 to the msu kid was just egregious....

Agree 100%. At very least put them back in neutral. He blew the whistle. How do you give him the takedown?
overturning it is one thing, giving him a takedown is egregious
honestly never even thought they were reviewing that. Thought they would just say no takedown if anything
Whatever happens the rest of the way, Smith has outperformed expectations this year.
He didn’t, there is independent review at the B1G tournament. That said, it was an awful reversal and Smith had a pretty clear takedown. I say this as a neutral observer.
Ref needs to step in and say I blew the whistle and action should be stopped once I made the call Independent or not. Smith clearly let up when he called the 3.
Smith has not been wrestling well down the stretch really since Volk win (been having hard time finding his offense) but still horrible call.
Yeah I think worst case scenario for Smith there would be returning the wrestlers to neutral. Smith rightly thought he was awarded the TD.
Wng even said(right after Smith’s Volk win and b10 freshman of week) he had hoped the accomplishments wouldn’t get to his head and get complacent… also wonder if anything can be done when refs make horrible calls/mistakes..
