Used to be a great area but after the BLM riots the radical left decriminalized crime. You could not pay me to live there, now. I even have one friend who was shot in Rittenhouse around 2000.

I would go with West Chester, media, Doylestown, or conshohocken and then have easy access to the city as needed. Still have the access but no bs, no homeless, and less crime.

If I had to live in the city it would probably be Chestnut hill, manayunk or east falls. Center city, old city, wash sq, art museum, ucity, and Fairmont used to be great but they all went downhill. Even wawa is leaving the city.
Exactly. I would never live in a city with Larry Krasner as my DA.

Had a boss years ago that lived in one of condos that had been converted from an old shipping pier between the Ben Franklin bridge and Penn’s Landing. What an incredible place to live. Always enjoyed visiting him there.

Yo, how many ritt house square home owners (1.5 mil n up) are sending their kids to public schools. Don’t be daft OR silly. If you’re rich, Philly is a playground. I think that’s triple true for NYC.

The poster does not live in Rittenhouse. His family lives in Rittenhouse.

Rittenhouse is not all wealthy. I know people with apts in Rittenhouse for 2k a month.

It is silly for you to pretend obvious problems don't exist. People with money can avoid the problems but the problems still exist!!

Whatever floats your boat. Grew up in the Philly burbs and used to enjoy taking the train in and spending time in the city, however, that was back in the 90s. I know someone who moved from Philly burbs to Fairmount neighborhood and loves it. Loves the neighborhood feel of it, walk in to bars and restaurants and everybody knows you name kind of neighborhood. On the flip side, I know people who have lived in Center City for decades and got fed up with it, like a few blocks from City Hall. Couldn't walk down the street anymore without being badgered for money by the homeless and also the constant crime in the area. This was all under Mayor Katz I think. Everybody's experience is different, I for one hate people and opt for the seclusion of the mountains. However, the grand babies argument is going to weigh heavy when those days come. Our kids are spread all over the east coast so a move south may be in the future(this long arse cold winter is helping to push us south).

"Mayor" Katz was never mayor.

The worst mayor was Kinney. He was a joke!! It was not all on him though. He was part of the three stooges, Kinney, krasner and Outlaw. They were the worst. The DA was elected. The mayor does appoint the police chief.

The one that looks like a ship? Is that on pilings or solid land?

It’s not for everyone. The great thing about the U.S. is that you can pretty much choose whatever lifestyle/culture you want and make a life there. I prefer PA and the northeast/mid-atlantic myself, but there are parts of the south that are beautiful to me as well. Even PA has a little bit of just about everything. You can go from Philly area to Amish county in a little over an hour or so.

Unfortunately that is no longer true and that is why most of Philly is chithole.

If you live in a neat, clean, safe neighborhood with good schools the lower class will march and protest for access. As soon as they get it they will destroy the new neighborhood just like they destroyed their last naighborhood.

Busing and school choice has pretty much destroyed all the Philly public schools. Low income housing pretty much destroys good neighborhoods.

The exception to my point is the neighborhoods where the lefty politicians and their campaign contributors live. Elected officials exempt themselves from the rules they push on the masses. If you have enough money and can afford a wealthy neighborhood then your point applies. You won't find any mandated low income housing projects, safe injection sites or school choice in their neighborhoods and schools.

We should just get rid of all the poor people. They're such a hassle.

Why do we spend trillions on education? Is it for kids to fail for generation after generation? Do you dream about your kids working at Mcdonalds for higher minimum? If they are going to fail either way then why spend the money?

Can you name any policies you support that ever reduced poverty? You probably consider a system a success when everyone is on welfare. I look at success when everyone is working. Is there ANY system where you will be successful and self sufficient?

When I am elected Commissioner of the Universe, I will clean up this mess.

Anyone who has been living in public housing projects for 5+ generations should have been deported 4 generations ago. I would limit it to two generations and make it temporary. If you cant succeed then GTFO.

Rigi19040- thank you for taking such an interest in my family’s education, but don’t assume we didn’t raise our kids in a city. You know what they say about assuming. I’d be more than happy to visit you in the basement moms suburban home and we can share family stories, just send me your address.

you you do your airport thing, I’ll do mine. Eveyone has their own opinion. Just like everyone had an a$$hole. Funny, how many time I use the a$$ responding to your email. Hmm. Have a good evening.
Everyone had an a$$hole? I still have mine.

Tell me ANY system where you will be successful, self sufficient and I will support it.

Problem is we use the policies you support, the poor still fail and then you blame da man for holding you down. Enough of the BS.

We have the highest funded schools in the world and the poor cant even make fries hot. WTF.

Not a ship. It was a pier. Cargo ships would dock and unload there. I’ll see if I can link it.
I didnt say a ship. I said looks like a ship.
One condo on the river is built to look like a ship. That is the only one I know that is on a pier. Might be others now.

Why didn't you raise your kids there?

All those conveniences can be had from the suburbs. Just as easy to go to the airport or museums from the suburbs.
Agreed, that's exactly what I do, 30 minutes to cc and 25 to the airport and you don't need to worry about safety ..... well as much I guess in todays environment. The city has gone up and down over the years as far as the violence goes. I go down to south philly once a month for my cheesesteak:)
