Fortunately it worked out. Even though the bench didn’t play great down the stretch, hopefully it was still a valuable learning experience for them going forward. I’m glad the starters were able to get some rest during this tournament — that could really pay off if we make it to Sunday. In the postseason you never know when foul trouble might force a backup or two into meaningful minutes, so the more experience they can get now, the better.
That also ties into a criticism some of us had of Bluder during the Clark years, if I remember correctly. Early in Jan’s first season as head coach, things might have gone more smoothly if players like McCabe and KF had gotten more minutes in previous seasons instead of leaving the starters in as long as they were. Developing the bench earlier can really help when roles suddenly expand.
