Totally NOT true. Ava was NEVER in any real foul trouble in the game. NEVER, And she played her sparingly in the first half as well, or did Jan "call the dogs off" in the first half?
She picked up her 4th foul with 6:59 left. It was a 15-20 point game most of the way, why is anyone whining about getting extra rest for the best player come tournament time? This isn't the men's team where BS plays 39 minutes regardless of game situation.

Alright, onto UNI men’s hoops now. Rooting for one of the two IA teams in the MVC join IA and ISU in the big dance.

Will be difficult but possible given the Drake beat down of #1 seed Belmont.

JFC. We ***** slapped them for 36 minutes and we have to hopefully play 3 games in 3 days and she subbed out our starters. The game was never in danger. I’ve never seen such a freaking whiny fan base of a successful team in my lifetime. The goal is to win and be able to give your starters some rest and we did. Starters absolutely dominated. In fact, it was probably our best defensive effort of the year besides possibly the Michigan game. Yes, the bench sucked. But it was really nothing new. Hays struggled. She’s struggled all year. Deal was good until the last 4 minutes. Yep, she stunk at the end. None of it matters. We won and it was never in doubt.

And, JJ can't play the scrubs in a close game.
It was a 21 point lead with under 4 minutes when the scrubs entered. Maybe close means something else to someone with a coach's viewpoint but in no way shape or form is that close. If they literally score a single basket or don't turn it over 4 consecutive possessions the final score doesn't look so close.

Why is anyone whining? Because that's what they do, win or lose. It must really suck to spend their lives only looking for others mistakes.

Seems to me Jan timed the entrance of the scrubs perfectly.

Honestly the only thing I wish is that she would have gotten Chit Chat a couple spots of rest during the earlier parts of the game. She still ended up with 35 minutes and Jan even commented like a week ago that Chat was still having some cramping issues.

Fortunately it worked out. Even though the bench didn’t play great down the stretch, hopefully it was still a valuable learning experience for them going forward. I’m glad the starters were able to get some rest during this tournament — that could really pay off if we make it to Sunday. In the postseason you never know when foul trouble might force a backup or two into meaningful minutes, so the more experience they can get now, the better.

That also ties into a criticism some of us had of Bluder during the Clark years, if I remember correctly. Early in Jan’s first season as head coach, things might have gone more smoothly if players like McCabe and KF had gotten more minutes in previous seasons instead of leaving the starters in as long as they were. Developing the bench earlier can really help when roles suddenly expand.

Right. Why disparage another Iowa Hawkeye cause you feel like it props up JJ? JJ doesn’t need it. Oklahoma will be a 2 seed after playing in a conf with LSU, South Carolina, Texas, Vandy, and so on.
No they won't lol. they're a 3 seed

Seriously? You were also the one that said LSU would light us up. I’m tired of seeing 25 posts after we dominated a very good team tonight (yes, dominated with our starters) and the anon’s of the world back to beating on Jan. And yes, I’m glad Oklahoma got their *** kicked.

That was crazy bad substitution and roster management. Almost biblically awful. Our bench is not ready for primetime in any way. Just pray our starters can stay out of foul trouble and Journey remains 6th one in. Shorten the bench here in one and done time.
It's perfect substitution. It feels like in a football game, when a running back slowly backpedals into the end zone, knowing 100% sure that the defenders can never catch up with him. He even intentionally makes it look close in the end. It's a big tease.

Maybe Coach Jensen tried to help out Illinois a bit, so that the committee does not see a 20-point blow out loss in Illinois's last game before the NCAAs.

Is this true? I like the Hawks in this one, but It seems really high, especially if Hannah can't go.
Sorry people. That’s the only line I could find her in the morning. They must’ve been some low rate service. They weren’t even close.

Really weird game at the end there. I thought Jan should have put the starters back in when the lead dropped to 10, but whatever...

Starters and Journey looked great. Everyone else played bad against superior players. Iowa locks in that number 2 seed in the dance and moves to the semifinals of the Big10 tournament. Mission accomplished.
