Those rankings might be reversed. Bubash was 7th at SW regionals last week, probably not #2. Bassett is the SW regional champ.

More than a little shocking that he was that close to Bassett and won the takedown battle.
I thought Bassett was higher than 15. Thanks for the clarification

The brackets are skewed due to pigtails. It looks like all true #2 seeds are seeded #15 in the brackets.

Remember attending ESU Wrestling Camp in the summer of 1990, he was one of the coaches and during a Q and A session someone asked him about weight management, he said something like " I can help in a lot of areas, weight control is not one of them, I will eat a full pizza and drink a liter of soda at 7pm, but I will go for a 15 mile run at 10pm to burn it off." he was great.

I saw Kwortnick beat Kevin Smith from Northampton in the finals their Senior year. Both were undefeated and Smith was a little odd and crazy funky. For the first half of match it was just wild. Eventually Chris started to work his trademark arm bars. He made Smith scream like a baby. Don Rohn was even cringing a couple of times during the beating.I know there is video of it but I can't find it.
Just watched that match again recently, Smith was funky before funky was a thing. Practiced with him my frosh year and he battled our 189lber for some good practice matches.

Can I say that having an El_Jefe and an Efejle is unsustainable. It makes my brain stop functioning each time I see it.

He apparently still eats the pizza and drinks the soda without enduring the 15 mile run

4:45 p.m. start for the Class 3A session, FYI. Only a 15-minute delay. Not bad.

AAA 106: W-4 Dominic PIcciotti 9-5 over SC-1 Sean Morley

AAA 121: W-4 Tommy Gretz 5-4 over SC-1 Abramm Schaffer. Not sure how much of an upset this really is -- Gretz is 44-14 on the year but placed last year.

AAA 133: NE-4 Caleb Kosko 2-1 TB2 over W-1 Cael Yanek -- this was an upset by bracket only. Kosko was 4th in an insanely loaded regional.

FWIW, they were about 15 minutes behind when I got there for the start of 3A today, which is pretty good, imo. Didn't extend in that last session, either.

I’m not sure how big of an upset this really is. Santamaria was a fifth place finisher last year and eighth place finisher his sophomore year, so he has some experience and success at this level.
