One factor that has gone unmentioned. What happens when Iowa finally hires a coach outside the Gable tree who is not a student of the 80’s caveman coaching?
That means one more school with great tradition and resources with a quality modern coach competing for wrestlers. Do that and Iowa is very attractive to the deep talent pool across the Midwest.

Shhh, don't tell MSU. He'll tell you in no uncertain terms that the Brands are God's gift to wrestling coaching, and the only reasons that Iowa isn't dominating like PSU are that Iowa has ethics and is bound by rules and Slumlord Bob is only a millionaire and not a billionaire.

I had a friend and fellow classmate who had a Vega Station Wagon. He bored out the aluminum heads and put metal inserts / sleeves in and took it to the drag track. People laughed but he consistently hit low 12s and they stopped laughing. He wrote letters and Two years later Chevy did the exact same thing to their Vegas......it solved the oil problem, but it was too late to change public opinion. There are some solid late model Vegas with no oil leaking problems. My other close friend had an early Vega. It ran great but he had a case of oil in the back to deal with the leakage. His was pretty severe but he loved the car....both power and gas mileage.

I believe Penn State will be favored the next two years if things go chalk, but a lot can happen and after that who knows. Buckeyes and VTech aren't going away either. Good times. That said I like the potential Penn state lineup 3 years out.

Assuming Ono has two years, for anyone to beat PSU next year or 27-28 will have to have best team in history. And no one will have it.

Very hard to predict what will happen to some people such as Desmond and Henckel who might be great but might not crack the lineup. What about Connor Mirasola?
I'm Ok with the talent spreading out. With NIL and the scholarship limits it was inevitable. Most forget about Connor. He has a bright future. I'm just glad it's Cael juggling this talent. He really is incredible at it.

But while I know Henckel is a talent and easy to just slot him into the vacant 174 next year but there are hurdles to that. One is that there are three guys Kasak, Duke, and Messenbrink and only two weight classes 157 and 165.
Wouldn’t also count out Jayden James. He’s an ultra talent who might not want to red shirt and with threat of portal might be allowed chance to wrestle off. It’s likely he redshirts but currently all over the trends are these guys are wrestling.

Just being a little ticky tak. If James wanted to wrestle off he would be allowed to wrestle off. I am not familiar with many who wanted to wrestle who weren't allowed to give it a go.
Even in 2015 (the punt year) Nico had to be convinced to redshirt, he wasn't told to do so.
Love the energy, but hyperbolic statements like this are too homertastic for me. In combat sports almost anyone has a chance to pull the upset on a given night.

In a single match, absolutely but in a full team tournament I can’t see anyone coming close to PSU the next 2 years. These are historically great teams. So many things would have to go wrong for PSU and other teams would have to have the tournament of their lives. Is it possible? Sure. Not likely at all though
That I agree with. It’s the zero percent chance claims that are unrealistic.
I’ve seen too many examples of upsets of an unbeatable team, wrestler, player, etc, to guzzle that flavor of koolaid. Illness, injury, personal or team turmoil, or just having an off night/weekend sometimes put their thumb on the scale when least expected.

when you are projected to be 80 or so points ahead of a team that’s massive. There would have to be stuff like Rocco Welsh losing his first two and Zack Ryder pinning everyone and that might be a 35 point swing, need another one or two of those
