Saved is a relative term. As of now they're going to throw it all in the trash and set it on fire. The gals are spitting on the latest offer. They're either entitled or really stupid. ALL the momentum of the last two years, then go on strike and start all over {maybe) eventually with a pissed off fan base. Nice job dumb asses.....

An 85/15 (owners) split is a lowball offer. Players were right to turn it down.

The players are demanding 26% of gross revenue. The league is offering 70% of net (revenue minus league-specified operating expenses) revenue. Once expenses and salaries are deducted, what's wrong with 70%?

That seems pretty fair to me. 🤷

AND, what are they going to get if they don't play and interest in their league wanes? If they go back to the pre Clark era? Maybe for a bit more rev share they'll give up those charter plane rides. Basically they've had 1-2 good years based mostly on Clarks arrival and they want to turn this whole thing upside down while the league still loses money. And NO I don't think unrivaled or some of this other side show basketball can subplant the W. Its a gimmick, and its not real basketball. Lets see what happens to the endorsements many are getting now if they don't play. (You notice how many more players are getting commercials since Clark joined the league)?

According to Sophie Cunningham, CC is only making $2 on a $100 jersey sale the league takes $98!!!

CC is #2 in the WORLD behind Steph Curry and the NBA and him split 50/50.

This part of player revenue sharing needs to be fair.

Burn the billionaire WNBA down. They are stealing!!!

Update: Kate Martin was #4 in sales. What an opportunity she had stolen from her by the league.

The WNBA is so far in debt, they need to take a lot of the money that would otherwise go to these players.

This was never going to be an easy or overnight fix.

And the unfortunate thing is the older players are impatient little sh**s and want their raise now, rather than helping to secure a better financial future for the league over time.

Thus they would rather burn it all down, to spite these younger players, simply because they aren't gonna get what they think is theirs right now.

A sad deal all around.

Does anyone know if either side proposed that underclassmen should be allowed to declare for early entry? I haven't paid attention to any other aspect of the negotiations other than salary proposals.

I also wonder if there is anything for the women drafted in the past few seasons who will be playing for relative peanuts to free agents now.

Is there any kind of special bonus clause for CC for basically making this whole thing possible?

You do realize that all but two players did not sign a contract beyond this year.

This CBA was in the works long before the world knew who was Caitlin.

(This is where you all tell me I am stupid and the league is only one person.)

Yeah, they probably would have been able to demand a $250,000 max salary without CC. They really didn’t need her.

Do you think they would've been able to pay players what they're going to be paying them without the impact CC has had on viewership, TV ratings, attendance, ticket/merch sales, etc.?

You do realize that more people tuned in ESPN to watch an Indiana Fever preseason exhibition game at CHA last year than Game 2 of the WNBA Finals on ABC?

But yeah, keep telling yourself that the chartered planes, games being moved to NBA arenas, $1 million salaries, etc., would've happened without CC in the league. Lol.

Caitlin's the biggest star in the league but this is a disingenuous comparison.

That Fever exhibition game was in the middle of May with no other sports competition on tv. Game 2 of the WNBA Finals was going against Sunday Night Football.

Kind of piggybacking off this idea, but does anyone think the new deal for the WNBA might influence JuJu's decision to not use her redshirt year and turn pro after the 26/27 season?
Just curious because she'll likely threaten CC's scoring record.

Valid point. Let's just go with the fact that CC's games draw twice as many or sometimes three times as many TV viewers on average than non-CC WNBA games.

The W started playing in 1997 and the women have played all of these years for peanuts, but it was probably just a coincidence that the players all organized right after CC came into the league.
Usually they do them every 4 years or so and the last one was 2020 where they increased the salary cap by 30%, introduced the Supermax, and established revenue sharing.

But ya, right after Clark came into the league.
