I'm west of Smyrna DE in Clayton which is about 17 minutes from the Maryland border and we got about 13 inches of wet snow. It's basically stopped down here so i'm going out with my snow blower around noon when the temperatures should be in the upper 30s. Totally didn't expect this type of storm after what we got 2 weeks ago smh

Absolutely! I'm surprised with how light and fluffy the snow is. I thought it was going to be wet and dense. The little one is shoveling the front walkway and steps now. Very easy shovel (if you have room to put it all). LOL.

So it's over, right? I had to do a few quick shovel-outs to let the dog out last night and this a.m. Agree the snow was pretty light. I expect my snowblower will make mincemeat of it and look to get started asap.

Looks like Wayne/PL is crapping out at 14 inches. pretty great job by the forecasters considering I was in the 12 to 18 band in most predicted snow maps.

NWS-Philly preliminary reports; took out measurements from before 5 am as they're just outdated. NWS-NYC reported around 6:45 am and figure it's worth waiting until they update, although I did see that as of 7 am CPK had 15.1", LGA had 15.1, ISP had 22.5", EWR had 18.3" and JFK had 15.0".

Seeing some shore towns in Monmouth underperforming expected totals. Wonder why? Snow quality.

Still coming down though. Bout to head outside now and see for myself.

It looks like about two feet of snow here in eastern Bergen county. And it's still coming down.
Not quite time to rank it in terms of biggest snowfall totals for a blizzard here in New Jersey.
Again I'm to blame for telling everyone that it was only gonna be an inch or two days before it arrived.

Now I feel bad that I raked up the 100 million acorns in my backyard and put them out for compost last fall. It would have helped the huge squirrel population we have here.

My neighbor just took his snowblower to my walkways and the driveway. And he even shoveled clear our front steps.
We've got our landscaper coming later today to finish the job.
Thankfully, mostly due to my wife's insistence, I've come around to the idea that at 76 years old I shouldn't be doing much shoveling.
As I posted in the thread for the last snow storm, I read an article where doctors were saying that the age at which one should stop shoveling snow was 45. And yes....I read the article because my wife showed it to me.

Snow has stopped on Staten Island. Looks like someone came down the street in a snowmobile. There is a line down the center of the street. Thanks to our 34 year old Mayor, no Sanitation plow has been down the street since the last garbage pickup on Sunday early morning. Must need the trucks to plow around Times Square since the TV cameras are out there.

Funny, I just finished shoveling and felt the exact opposite up here in western Bergen.

We probably got about 11" or so this time
For some reason, my snowblower kept jamming up, and I sprayed the stuff in the chute and in the front, but still kept jamming. It was fine last night. Think the snow was wet near the bottom. But the snow is a lot lighter than last night for shoveling.

Looks like 21.3" from 10 am measurement is my final total, bringing me to 53.0" for the season; snow has already compacted to about 18" as of 12:00 pm when I checked after my final shoveling. My number looks good given the actual snowfall map below which has most of the 95 corridor and the coast in the 18-24" swath. T

The GFS ruled among all of the models up until the event, but especially several days out latching on to the big phased snowy storm solution when almost every other model was showing a weak, progressive out-to-sea solution, and then I thought the HRRR did quite well with real-time projections once the event started. And great forecast by the NWS, sticking to their guns with the high predictions that many of us thought were too high and it mostly worked out.

Fantastic storm - all snow for a change and just gorgeous to look at if a lot of work to shovel, lol. Two pics to share: first one was right after sunrise showing some of the heaviest snow of the event with about 1/8th of a mile visibility and everything just looks like a snowy moonscape (those big lumps in front are where I shovel to), while the 2nd was from driving around town after the storm and it looks like a snowy tree tunnel.

And one weird observation - from about 10 am to noon had what looks like decent snowfall rates, via radar, but have had light flurries at most - no idea why. Anyone? Radar showing snow up high and a dry layer below? Time for a shower, some food and some sleep, but not sure in which order, lol.

I'm past 45 and close to my limit for hardcore shoveling. LOL! Our little one is crushing it as I clear off the car we leave on the driveway. She's in 8th grade, so at least 4 more winters with her until the real world begins to claim her. :)

Spring and the Yanks are just around the corner.

Just shoveled about 12 inches or so on our driveway and walkway. Definitely on the low end of estimates and nothing close to the nonsensical wishcasting from a few days ago. Can't complain! Plow just went by so the roads are mostly black.
T caught lying again, what a surprise. I'm not sure how you can even function in real life, as the troll in you must come out and normal people hate that ****. Turns out your area of southern Somerset was pretty much in the 18-24" swath (maybe as low as 16" at worst) of reported snowfalls, which was right where the NWS predicted you'd be. Also, given how badly you failed in downplaying the event, I'm surprised you would even show up in this thread.

But there was a layer of slush on the bottom which made it a bit harder on the snowblower - had to clear off the auger blades and respray with silicon spray a few times. Ended up being the most sticky I’ve dealt with in a while - last storm had no issues at all with snow sticking to the auger blades like this storm.

I’ve had that happen in the past when using the lubricants so now I go full bore with the non stick stuff and lather it on anything that touches snow (more important when the snow is wet) …chute, impeller, auger, shovel…and make sure every nook and cranny gets some…since I’ve been doing that I haven’t had too many issues….knock on wood.

Did mine and helped 3 neighbors and luckily no clogging issues during it, just had to refill gas a few times. The end of the drives was the heavy stuff, the driveways themselves weren’t bad.

All the major stations...and my wife watches them all....are reporting about 24 inches for Ridgefield, Ridgefield Park, Bogota, Carlstadt, Little Ferry, and Bergenfield here in Bergen county. That, of course is eastern Bergen county.

I measured 17" in Hamilton at 11am. Some of the snow was light but had areas were it was heavy and the snow blower wasn't throwing it as far. I was out there for 3 plus hours doing it. My side street still hasn't been plowed yet so will have to dig out again once they do it. I had/have drifts on my roof over 30" it seems. I used my snow rake as far as I could reach. Not one other roof in sight has them like mine WTF.

Here is a cool map I found to check your area for snow depth.
