Watched last night (and yes I know this stuff can be seen live or elsewhere, but it stinks that they make the best TV events their ‘premiere’ events for TV and those are around 10pm) and Alysa had the most fun, refreshing routine it was very easy to get swept up into it. Had either of the Japanese skaters performed just slightly better they would have won but it was not meant to be. Big win and very happy for Alysa who, outside of Marybeth snowboarders, actually looks like she’s having fun. This is a cool breakdown of her performance.

Alysa did a phenomenal job in taking home the gold. Her performance was flawless in a high pressure situation. She demonstrated charisma on the ice that you don't typically see. She is clearly one of the headliners of this Olympics that people will remember for a long time. Great comeback story and shows you can actually have a life outside figure skating yet still reach the top. And it was great sportsmanship by all the competitors.

Canada, for f*ck’s sake.
I tuned in and saw the last five minutes. Based on the reaction, the last penalty on Finland made me think the Finn shot the Canadian in the face. I'm certainly not a hockey expert and it may have been a legit penalty. But I guess it's good he didn't start crying too.

Was redemption at its finest in the women’s hockey game yesterday. Edwards was sleeping and slow to get back on the Canada short handed goal. But it was also her shot that Knight redirected for the tying goal and it was her long breakaway pass to Keller that resulted in the winning goal. Instead of whining about her bad play early, she did something about it.

Hughes just looked like Allen iverson on skates. 4-0 USA in second
With all the talk by a lot of people who follow hockey only tangentially about how superior Canada was to everybody else, this USA team right now is pretty damn good and may be a better overall team than Canada, especially minus Crosby’s leadership.

Winter Olympic events seem to carry a lot more danger than the Summer Olympics. Fortunately just a scar, and no eye damage.

Boldy with a great individual effort for the goal. Both teams (especially Canada) trying way too hard to make the perfect play instead of getting the puck on net. Great game though...the NHL might want to reduce their rinks by 3 feet as well.
