He was everything Barkley is and more. I like Carter more than Barkley because Carter could be physical and get those dirty yards. While Barkley is a physical specimen, he lacks that element to his game.
If not for that knee injury, I think he could have been a great NFL RB.

Carter ran behind one of the greatest olines in our history . Barkley ran behind a Post sanctions oline. I love both, but Saquon is the better back.
If we are talking this era, the qb is the most important position on the team. Building the team around a lb or rb wouldn’t make sense. You could build the team around Poz or Carter, but if the qb is not elite, the team will not win a natty and may not even be very good. We have not been elite since 1994, which was the last time we had an elite qb.

At one time was the NCAA's all time leader in sacks and TFL. Has since been passed, but still....
I remember him getting a sack in his very first series for PSU. Knew he was going to be special.
It all started with Mike Reid. Similar to Joe Greene starting the Steeler run of the seventies and beyond.
