Just a question for those who applaud bowl opt outs. Nick Singleton probably wants to know the answer too.
1. I’ve never seen anyone “applaud” bowl opt outs.Just a question for those who applaud bowl opt outs. Nick Singleton probably wants to know the answer too.
I always that it was odd that these opt outs would play in every single regular season game even when some of them basically were guaranteed that they would be drafted highly, yet sit out one last game when they probably would barely play anyway.Just a question for those who applaud bowl opt outs. I think he will probably be a third down back that is still a threat to run.I think he may have a good NFL career. Pass catching ability will help.
A broken foot can be a problematic injury, especially for a player who relies on speed.Bummer for him. Hope he recovers quickly.
Nobody applauds the bowl opt outs. Some just don’t whine endlessly about them like others do. Do other fanbases trash their players as much as this one?Just a question for those who applaud bowl opt outs. Nick Singleton probably wants to know the answer too.

And he decision to opt out then participate at the senior bowl tells you his answerJust a question for those who applaud bowl opt outs. Nick Singleton probably wants to know the answer too.
They do play football...they just aren't playing in a meaningless scrimmage.I always that it was odd that these opt outs would play in every single regular season game even when some of them basically were guaranteed that they would be drafted highly, yet sit out one last game when they probably would barely play anyway.
In the end, they're playing a sport in which almost every single player is going to be injured at some point and in some way; that's the business that they've chosen. If they're afraid of getting injured, then do what the 99% of the rest of us do and get a 9 to 5 job, or try a different sport. If you want to be a football player, then play football.
I think that would be damn near impossible.Nobody applauds the bowl opt outs. Some just don’t whine endlessly about them like others do. Do other fanbases trash their players as much as this one?
If you’re going to opt out of a bowl then opt of a senior bowl. Your teammates come first. If you can’t be with them then why be with stranger dangers!!
Whoa. "Perhaps the best running back at PSU"??I just feel bad for Singleton. He had the potential to be, perhaps, the best running back at PSU ever. He didn't live up to that but did provide a lot of highlights during his time. I understand the whole opt out thing, and it sucks for him that he got injured now.
I believe he had that potential.Whoa. "Perhaps the best running back at PSU"??
He's not in that category.
Players should probably opt out of both going forwardJust a question for those who applaud bowl opt outs. Nick Singleton probably wants to know the answer too.
Then why play in any games or the sport in general? They’re football players who don’t play football games. Doesn’t that sound a little paradoxical to you?Players should probably opt out of both going forward
No more so than fans who boo their players and coaches, no.Then why play in any games or the sport in general? They’re football players who don’t play football games. Doesn’t that sound a little paradoxical to you?
I don’t understand the comparison. If you want to be a football player, then actually play football. If you’re afraid that you’ll get hurt in a sport that you chose to play, then play a less dangerous sport or play Madden in your basement. No more so than fans who boo their players and coaches, no.
No wiggle…no tough yards…poor pass protection…Players should probably opt out of both going forward
Why play in a bowl game if you aren't getting paid for it? The Senior bowl is a different deal because of the NFL coaches being involved- that's probably a good potential draft and career booster, so there is more reason to play.I don’t understand the comparison. If you want to be a football player, then actually play football. If you’re afraid that you’ll get hurt in a sport that you chose to play, then play a less dangerous sport or play Madden in your basement.
Interesting that I just checked out Singleton’s NFL draft profile which said he is no liability on pass protection and he sets up with genuine enthusiasm with technical skills many college backs lack. Hmmm.No wiggle…no tough yards…poor pass protection…

I agree with your take about Nick opting out of an unimportant bowl game yet playing in the Senior Bowl to try to improve his draft status but your claim that these bowl games are “meaningless scrimmages” is clownish. They don’t charge admission or have two different teams playing against each other in scrimmages. They do play football...they just aren't playing in a meaningless scrimmage.
They do--that's what preseason games are. Those aren't free.I agree with your take about Nick opting out of an unimportant bowl game yet playing in the Senior Bowl to try to improve his draft status but your claim that these bowl games are “meaningless scrimmages” is clownish. When you’re wrong; just keep digging. Geez. They do--that's what preseason games are. Those aren't free.
Many spring games even charge a fee to enter.
Bowl games are just a reward for the kids that some fans still believe in--each year less than less will attend.
I'm not but you're entitled to try to give meaning to scrimmagesWhen you’re wrong; just keep digging. Geez.
