Since DT has taken over it’s OkSt for me. No team I want to crush more. Ohio State a close 2nd

but i still feel like IOWA is.
No they are probably not the biggest threat to our dominance but they are a legitimately really good team
but with IOWA they are not just a good team but we are chasing down their history also! Their records, etc.
Ohio State.... probably has the best team right now and will come the closest to us... but they are still a far cry from beating us and it will be even worse in the tournament than in the dual. Still the lack the history and prestige that IOWA and OKST have... so for us... it is simply beating them... we don't need to beat the ghosts of their past as well as their current team
OKST carries that same type of wresting mystic, with a high degree of long term success that brings prestige that other programs cannot compete with... but we don't wrestle them annually to add kindling to this fire. DT going there as a PSU insider and taking several of our wrestlers with him has a high degree of potential...but at this point does not surpass IOWA -just bc of the lack of familiarity!
VTech seems to be building something special down their and has potential but they are in the ACC and lack of familiarity, lack of program prestige... not ghosts to chase down.... they remain a distant 4th even if they end up be much better than the other 3
I say Iowa but they are still currently very good but the familiarity and our goal to surpass the legendary status of their past... IMO still leave them as our biggest rival right now!

Iowa is obviously still our biggest rival, but just as obviously not any immediate nor serious threat.
Whatever team is ranked #2 at any given time.
Considering Cael wrestled and coached at Iowa State...that rivalry with Iowa mentality will never leave his DNA regardless. His personal coaching goals are still chasing down Iowa's/Gable's records.
He still plans his season for an Iowa peak. The ultimate face slap will be the year he trains them through the Iowa match, and we are getting closer to that happening.
To me, rival implies consistent competitive threat.
Unless Iowa becomes competitive again some day, calling them our biggest rival is like a fire hydrant claiming it has a rivalry with a dog.
That means we have no rival.
I would disagree to a point. It is a lost rivalry that gives me great joy in still making fun of Pitt.
Gabe lost in OT 4-1. Angelo was injured in the Rocco match not ducking he's banged up. Gabe wrestled against Nebraska last week as wellOn a side note. I’d say it has been Iowa for the past decade, but moving forward, could be Ok State. Also, Ohio State is probably the closest in conference for now, but that will change year to year. It also depends on if Iowa moves on from Brands.
