SVN better be careful. He’s been putting himself in some dangerous positions. Won’t get away with that against a top 10 wrestler most of the time.

SVN better look sharper than he has lately. Hes been on his back in the last couple of weeks. That’s going to cost him against a really good wrestler. Hopefully he makes the adjustments soon. Love to see him win it all but he must wrestle sharper.

Van Ness would have to wrestle a lot better than he has the last couple weeks. Cant give up all those points and be on your back twice against a good wrestler. Hopefully he makes the adjustments soon.

Love SNV but he puts himself in some dangerous positions at times. Plus he’s not looked great on bottom at times with simple hand control. ... I’m sure he’ll make the adjustments and be fine. Love him scoring a lot of points but like to see some better baseline defense if that makes sense

Dang, Sunshine. Talk about deja vu all over again.

Never say never, but that was a one on a million result. I'm not holding my breath.
I am a very trusting person. I trust your “one in a million” number. That’s why I believe that since Spencer lost six times in college he must have won about six million times in college.

I think “6,000,000 - 6” is even more impressive than “159 - 0”! Sit down Cael; Spencer is the GOAT.

😀

Oh man. You know those HR goofs are going to run with that.

You do remember Spencer Lee and how that turned out. No one here on. Tho message board thought he would lose like he did
Yeah but Spencer did get pinned previously and had been put on his back twice already that season. Our backup 'almost' got him in a cradle. Despite the forever accolades on HR, there were some cracks in his armor.

Mendez is elite and, and will probably be right there in the top 5 for the Hodge at season's end. I believe Jesse was the one kid Cael was most upset about losing. At the time we were not yet aligned on NIL and were at a disadvantage to tOSU and other programs. Cael intimated we lost some kids to/because of NIL. No names were ever mentioned, but I think Jesse was the main one. He looks better than ever this year which is pretty damned impressive.

PS - Go Braeden! He is just now coming into form from the long layoff, we definitely have not seen his best yet. I may be in the minority, but just after singing Jesse's praises, I think Braeden might keep it to a decision.

If PSU wins 25 & 33, it’s over.

Yea, I was thinking about that prior to you posting it, i.e., which early result will seal the deal for the O$U fanboys to realize it aint happening ...

I thought maybe it takes until 149 for it all to settle in for them ... as they realize the run of losses is just starting ... 157, 165, 174, 184, 197 .. :)

I kind of get some shades of the 2019 dual.

Don't forget going in, we were underdogs at 5 weights

125 - During our 125 woes, Heinselman was a clear favorite over Schnupp
133 - Pletcher was definitely a favorite over RBY (especially since RBY was injured a bit also)
141 - McKenna was a favorite over younger Nick Lee for sure. Ironically the dual was the only time Nick beat him.
149 - Micah Jordan was a huge favorite over whoever we went (between Berge or Verkleeren) Many predicted bonus here.
184 - Myles Martin was a huge favorite and we didn't have Shakur available then (we were sending Mason Manville up)

At the time, many were talking about Moore potentially being a bad matchup for Bo since he's a positionally sound wrestler who gave J'Den Cox a good match before and Bo was a smaller 197.

Then we came out, took 133/141, Verkleeren gave Micah all he wanted and of course Bo pinned Moore in 90 seconds lol

Hope for a similar result here.

I think if he hits the weights hard, practices with Zain everyday, and learns to create angles on his shots he will be ok. If he can’t make those adjustments he’s in big trouble

He was #53 in FLO’s 2nd to last big board of the 2022 class. He only jumped all the way to #18 after his great summer of freestyle. He won the US open at U20’s that spring. He was absolutely that low of a recruit his entire hs career. He wasn’t even in FLO’s top 100 during his junior year. Jumped levels after the hs folk season was over and long after committing to Cal Baptist.

I can’t think of anyone that has a growth curve like Mitchell. He was good but not elite and then at some point after his senior year something clicked and it’s been arrow straight up ever since. Not even top 100 for his class as a junior to #53 as a senior to #18 before college started. Then making U20 teams and becoming a world medalist followed by making the NCAA finals as a redshirt freshman. I’ve never seen anything like it
I remember Cael talking at a press conference a good while ago about Mitchell and I'm paraphrasing- Had we known Mitchell would have been this good we would have camped out on his front porch!

Mitchell hasn't jumped levels, he rockets them.

Shayne has always had a tendency to occasionally put himself in bad positions, and is usually good enough to get out of it. Even as far back as our youth league in Jersey, Shayne was winning a match against Soldano (yes, they were at the same weight). Soldano caught him out of position and pinned him. Best part was Shayne's dad Rodney, a well respected coach, was almost laughing as it was happening, basically saying his boy made a mistake and needs to learn from it.

People who believed in themselves and tried to wrestle Bo were fun.

I am totally expecting PSU to dominate OSU but to be fair to OSU, they were down a few starters vs Nebraska or it would not have been so close..

Would it, though? Would Cannon beat Taylor? Paddy beat Araujo? Paddy might have lost even worse. He’s not injured. They announced before the weekend that Birden would go against Nebraska and that it’s still a competition to start at 165. Cannon is an unimpressive #1, and Taylor is the defending champ. Taylor wouldn’t have majored him, though, so they would have saved one point.

I thought cannon beat Taylor at national duals.

I’d take this years Cannon (assuming he’s healthy) over this years Taylor every time out. As for the Paddy instead of Birden difference, the only thing I’d think that could’ve made a difference is style or experience giving OSU a better chance in that one, but then again, maybe not?

Agree Gallagher would not likely beat Aroujo but Cannon already beat Taylor 16-4 at the Collegiate Duals earlier this year…

By the time we get to the OSU match we are going to be talked out. If everything goes to chalk PSU wins 8 matches and OSU wins 2. If it ends up 7-3 or 6-4 PSU then OSU had anywhere from a very good night to a great night. Another measurement for OSU to have a good night would be 8-2 PSU with none to minimal bonus points.
A good PSU night is 9-1 or 8-2 with a ton of bonus points.
There will be zero training through and a small in season peak. PSU will win the 8 matches they are expected to win. Bonus at 125, 149, 165, 174 and 197. Mendez is winning, but I expect a decision. At heavyweight I am hoping Cole is ready to step into that territory of beating Feldman, but we will see.
31-6.
34-3 would be cool.
The beating will be thorough enough Ryan probably won't say, nor post anything stupid afterwards.
You had me until the last sentence.
