They should let retired NFL players come back to the college teams if they never used all of their eligibility...

There are "super seniors" playing College FB right now older than third year players in the NFL. The grown man argument isn't a strong defense as to reasons why they shouldn't.

Don’t have to limit it to retired players. Why not just let current NFL players come back if they still have eligibility?

Yup, nothing like further diluting fans', alumni or otherwise, connections to their college teams.

Pretty sure Blackledge has a year of eligiblity left, since he was redshirted his first year, and left after his 4th year.
So do Lavar, Parsons and KiJana.

I think Jameis Winston might have 2 years of eligibility left. He’s probably doing ok as a backup but I’m sure somebody like Miami or LSU would give him a nice fat check if he wants to play.

Simple solution. I believe that in Ohio when a kid turns 19 they are no longer eligible to play HS sports. In college, eligibility ends when an athlete turns 24. College sports are for 18-23 year olds.

In Ohio you have to be 21 to buy cigs or alcohol. I believe mandatory retirement age in the military is 62. One has to be 35 to be POTUS. Etc. Should a 24 year old man lay out an 18 year old kid on a block or tackle? I don't think so.

Parsons and Barkley both have a year left and both have degrees. Bring them back as graduate players for another year and they won't even have to go to class (at least in reality).

IIRC, the eligibility clock can't be paused once it starts running. It'll keep running even after a player leaves with eligibility remaining. After four or five years or whatever the case may be, that's it. No more eligibility.

It's already happened in basketball (not retired player though), and will happen in football. Micah has 2 years of eligibility left. Just saying.

I’m guessing this thread is in response to Charles Bediako who was granted immediate eligibility for Alabama bball team today.

He played one season of college bball before declaring for the nba draft. He played 2.5 years of professional ball before today. Guessing he’s probably close to 24 years old.

Is it stupid or proactive for head coaches to spend less resources on recruiting high school athletes and more time to start scouting professionals who maybe unhappy with their current contract?

Probably both stupid and proactive. This is definitely the direction things are heading. Coach Rhodes should reach out to Tony Carr.

Can we bring LaVar back as a player/coach? Asking for us.

Could use Aaron Maybin on the edge this season too.
