If this match were held at BJC, I think we break the record. The problem with Carver is that their referees will call enough stalling on PSU that it will reduce our bonus potential and keep us under the record ... the officials are their only hope.

I was in Carver when Penn State set the record in 2024. It was a glorious night and aside from one or two drunken hooligans, the Iowa fans were nice to us! Even bought us a beer at a bar afterwards.

I'm saying it'll be right on the nose.

The Iowa way. Penn State kid winning 12-4 and Iowa sings along with "heeeessss staaaalllllinnnnn" and Angel throws a couple fists in the air in the finals 6 seconds to give Iowa a point for a celebrated 12-5 3-point team loss.

Im thinking psu gets more bonus wins than in the past they pass their record of 30 points, 8-2 get anywhere from 35 to 40 and that is what does it,

I was there in 2022 (it was the beer throw meet, and we saw it happen) and 2024. Everyone I met was very cordial, and fans bought my son and I beers in 2024 in Carver.

Penn State holds the margin of victory record, both home and away, against Iowa:

I don’t no if you ever did one but if not. It would be fun to do a poll of most likely PSU records to be beat. Longest duel streak wins, most individual champs in a season, largest margin of victory over Iowa, most points scored at the ncaa tournament, most 4 time ncaa champs on the same team over a 4 year period. There are probably more I just look at these and think can they be beaten.

Is it possible to determine the last time IA was held to 3 team points.

I saw this posted on the Iowa board. I couldn't get the actual post to copy over, but this is what a poster said:

"From what I can find through Grok, this was the worst loss since the 1965-66 season when Oklahoma beat Iowa 39-0."

1960-61 when they lost to MSU 31-3.

But they were shut out three times in the 1965-66 season.

That year they lost to Oklahoma State 39-0. Back then they wrestled 9 weights in inter-conference duals with a pinfall being worth 5 and a decision worth 3. So OSU would have had 6 pinfalls and 3 decisions.

So Penn State has some work to do. Need to get to 7 pinfalls and 3 decisions (or better) to truly lay claim to the scoring margin title. There is always next year.

Page 78 for the listed 2025-2026 Iowa media guide to see the '65-'66 season results. P.S. Thanks @manatree for letting me know to check a school's media guide for reliable team data.

Every time someone puts a new challenge on a piece of paper and lays it down in front of PSU wrestling the challenge is almost always met. 7 pins and 3 decisions now seems damn near inevitable.
