Where would we be without Chit Chat?

Sure, she didn't exactly shoot well yesterday, but you can say that for the entire team.

She ended up with 13 points, 3 assists (0 turnovers), 4 steals and 1 offensive rebound. She was 4-4 from the FT line, too, when every point was desperately needed. The rest of the team was a cringe-worthy 6-12 (50%) from the FT line.

Gotta love everything about this young lady's game and her quiet but determined leadership. She's the key to everything. She's tough. She's unflappable. She does it all. Tremendous defense despite her small stature. Outstanding shooter from everywhere. Terrific passer and ball handler. Can't say enough about what she means to this team, and that three she hit late yesterday was as cold-blooded as it gets. She's awesome.

BTW: Maybe there's something about the initials "CC" and Iowa . . . Think about it in recruiting, Jan.

It really was a tale of 2 halves; Iowa was terrible in the 1st half; IU was terrible in the 2nd half.

IU is now 0-6 and in the basement of the B1G standings.

It feels like we only have 3 (maybe 2 1/2) viable offensive threats: Chit Chat, Ava, and Hannah. Hannah is the maybe 1/2. If any of them has an off game, it's such a struggle to score as a team.

Nearly a perfect game. She ran the offense to perfection and the OSU press was a complete non-factor.

I have a question for you more knowledgeable people! Why does she not get fouled and to the line very often. I would think a point guard would be getting fouled a lot!?!?

She doesn't play into contact much, not really her style. Plus I think it's more difficult to draw those calls due to her size, she's shifty and creates space by getting the defender on skates. Basically she's playing to her strengths. She's a fantastic PG, really knows when to take control of the game, picks her spots, and gets everyone involved. Watching Chit Chat and Stirtz PG play this year has been awesome.

She's so fun to watch. Remember when she had the UConn defender on skates?

She has to be the Portal MVP so far this year in the Nation. It's crazy how other teams drop their pressure entirely when she has the ball in her hands. That alone would make her our MVP but the fact she not only shoots the three at an amazing clip but her pull up game is elite makes her invaluable to this team.
She solved so many problems last years team had.
My only issue with her so far is that she doesn't go get/demand the ball more often.

Check out those shooting percentages.

Her averages so far:

30.8 minutes

13.1 points
3.9 assists (1.9 turnovers)
1.6 steals
2.5 rebounds

48.2% from 3
46.3% Overall Shooting
90.2% FTs

And she commits less than 1 foul/game.

She’s been dynamite and dynamic. I really thought her size would be more of an issue, and it can be exploited at times..But she’s been consistently good. And surprising with her shooting ability both behind the arc and midrange.

She's listed at 5'4" and I remember a TV announcer saying that was being generous.

Not as big an issue as it is in Men's sports and still very limited in terms of opportunities to play in front of 15,000 screaming fans every night. This program has a lot of momentum.

I just hope she's enjoying Iowa City. It's a lot different from her hometown of Atlanta, which is also where she spent her first year of college (Georgia Tech).

Yeah. Quickness, skill, and determination can overcome a lack of size, and Chit chat has those qualities in abundance. That tiny point guard is averaging almost 4 rebounds per game over the last 4 games.

In the women's game speed will more than make up for a lack of size. Not as much speed discrepancy in the mens game.
